ACTIVITY 1. READ THE TEXTS CAREFULLY THEN COMPLETE THE

TABLES ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION.

TEXT 1. I AM KATE. My vacation.

Last year, I went to Cartagena with my family and my best friend Luis. (Cartagena
is a city in Colombia). We visited my cousins Mayra and Alejandra. I did not meet
them, so I was really excited to meet them. My first impression of them it was very
good, they are so much friendly and fun. We went to visit many places but my
favorite place was Barú Island. That island is amazing, it looks like a paradise, I
took many pictures. The food was excellent. We ate shrimp rice and shrimp
cocktail. I had a great time with my family. We spent three amazing days in
Cartagena.

TEXT 2. MY NAME IS LINDA. My Last Holiday

I went to Milan last February with my boyfriend. We flew to Milan by WIZZ AIR.
We stayed for three days in a great hotel near Duomo. During the day we walked
around the city. We saw all the famous places like the Duomo and the theatre La
Scala. We took a lot of photos. At night we went to restaurants and had fantastic
pizza, salad and panna cotta. Our favorite restaurant was in the via Monte
Napoleon. We bought some very expensive clothes, shoes and bags. We had a
great time. Milan is a very nice town with special atmosphere and the Italian food is
wonderful.

TEXT 3. MY NAME IS BOB. Last summer

I went to the sea with my friends. We went there by a car. We stayed for two
weeks in a   camp in different places and slept in a   tent. There we rode surfed
and kite surfed. In the evening played the guitar, sang songs and told stories.
There I found many friends. We took a lot of photos and had a great time. It was
very hot.

TEXT 4. I AM JOHN. A great summer vacation.

I just returned from the greatest summer vacation! It was so fantastic, I never wanted it to
end. I spent eight days in Paris, France. My best friends, Henry and Steve, went with me.
We had a beautiful hotel room in the Latin Quarter, and it wasn’t even expensive. We had
a balcony with a wonderful view.
We visited many famous tourist places. My favorite was the Louvre, a well-known
museum. I was always interested in art, so that was a special treat for me. The museum is
so huge, you could spend weeks there. Henry got tired walking around the museum and
said “Enough! I need to take a break and rest.”
We took lots of breaks and sat in cafes along the river Seine. The French food we ate was
delicious. The wines were tasty, too. Steve’s favorite part of the vacation was the hotel
breakfast. He said he would be happy if he could eat croissants like those forever. We had
so much fun that we’re already talking about our next vacation!

Sally

Sally left home when she was 18.

She didn’t want to go to university, so she went to work in a book shop in London.
One day, a customer came to the store. His name was Bill, and he was tall and handsome.
He liked Sally, and asked her out
They went out to dinner and had a nice time. Bill told Sally that he worked in a bank in the
financial district.
Sally liked Bill, too. After dinner, they kissed in front of her door. She smiled and said that
she hoped she would see him again.
Nobody is sure how it happened, but Sally and Bill fell hopelessly in love, and ended up getting
married.
They moved into a small flat together, and paid incredibly high rent prices for a few years, until
Sally announced that she was pregnant.
Bill asked for a loan from the bank so they could buy a nicer flat in a friendlier neighborhood
outside London. Sally  quit her job, and a few months later she had her baby. They named the baby
Andrea.
For a while, they were very happy

Infection Facts:
What is coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)?
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to
person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified during an
investigation into an outbreak in Wuhan, China.

How can people get COVID-19?

COVID-19 is spreading from person to person. Risk of infection with COVID-19 is higher for people
who are close contacts of someone known to have COVID-19, for example healthcare workers, or
household members. Other people at higher risk for infection are those who live in or have
recently been in an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19.

How does COVID-19 spread?

The virus that causes COVID-19 probably emerged from an animal source, but is now spreading
from person to person. The virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close
contact with one another.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

Patients with COVID-19 have had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of • fever •
cough • shortness of breath, etc.

What are severe complications from this virus?

Some patients have pneumonia in both lungs, multi-organ failure and in some cases death.

How can I help protect myself?

People can help protect themselves from respiratory illness with everyday preventive actions.   •
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with
unwashed hands. • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an
alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.

If you are sick, to keep from spreading respiratory illness to others,

you should
Stay home when you are sick. • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in
the trash. • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
What should I do if I recently traveled from an area with ongoing
spread of COVID-19?
If you have traveled from an affected area, there may be restrictions on your movements for up
to 2 weeks.

Is there a vaccine?
There is currently no vaccine to protect against COVID-19. The best way to prevent infection is to
take everyday preventive actions, like avoiding close contact with people who are sick and washing
your hands often.

Is there a treatment?
There is no specific antiviral treatment for COVID-19. People with COVID-19 can seek medical care
to help relieve symptoms.

Cleaning and Disinfecting for Illness Prevention.

Cleaning of visibly dirty surfaces, followed by disinfection, is a best practice measure for
prevention of COVID-19 and other viral respiratory illnesses in households and community settings

Cleaning: Removing germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces. Cleaning does not kill germs, but by
removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.

Versus

Disinfecting: Killing germs on surfaces with chemicals. This process does not necessarily clean dirty
surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the
risk of spreading infection.

WHAT YOU CAN DO?

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces (e.g., doorknobs, light switches,
countertops). Use all cleaning products according to the directions on the label.

Your hands carry germs you can’t see.

HOW

1. Wet your hands with clean water. 2. Soap them up. 3. Scrub them front and back,
between your fingers, and under your nails. 4. Scrub for 20 seconds. 5. Rinse with clean
water. 6. Dry hands with a clean towel or by air drying. 7. Repeat often. If soap and water
are not available, use an alcohol-based (at least 60% alcohol) hand sanitizer.

WHEN

2. OFTEN and REGULARLY, especially: • After coughing or sneezing • Before and after visiting
someone who is sick • After using the bathroom • Before eating or cooking • After
blowing your nose.

Do your part to stop the spread of germs!

1. Get vaccinated.

2. Cover your coughs and sneezes.

3. Wash your hands often.

4. Stay home when you’re sick.
