All About The Pies

The 18th of October from 2:00
pm to 5:00 pm this year is a date you
will want to put on your calendar of
events. There’s a pie sale in Hinsdale
in the nice little memorial park right
next to Sweet Memories Ice Cream
Shop at the end of Montana street.
This is no ordinary pie sale
friends. In a time when this country
has gone bat-guana crazy with
the obsession of tearing down our
statues and monuments to our
fallen heroes and other notable men
and women, the folks in Hinsdale
have banded together to restore
our monument remembering those
from our area.
As the plaque says: “Presented
to the American Legion to pay
tribute to those who have served
their country in time of war.”
It was presented to the
American Legion by Marlin and
Burril Jensen.
One thing missing is a new
plaque with the names of those who
have served in the years since WWII
and that’s just one reason for the pie
sale. The other reason has to do with

and a pie sale is the first fund-raiser underway to, as the old saying goes,
“get the ball rolling.” It’s happening in Hinsdale this Sunday, October 18th. continued on page 2

This monument was erected in 1945, so like a lot
of us born in that immediate place in time it has seen
better days. It has survived many a cold winter and hot
summer only to find that the cement holding its joints
together is crumbling and in dire need of a $6,000+
surgical procedure.
The flag atop the crumbling monument shows that
our community honors those who served during time
of war.
It’s not as large as that grand monument at Fort
Peck or the one in Great Falls and in other cities and
towns all around the Big Sky but it says the same thing,
only on a smaller scale.
So, friends, please take a few moments of your
Good hunting time, take the scenic drive to Hinsdale, buy a delicious
weather homemade pie for $75 and feel that ol’ warm fuzzy
setting in feeling as you’re driving home. (while thumbing your
nose at all those un-American idiots who insist on
tearing down this great nation’s history.)

Being Sheepish
The Western Valley 4-H club meeting was held on September 27. First
we had livestock judging. We all sat down in a chair and ate lunch. The
goodies were especially delicious. Then we took a test. We were either
on the 4-H team or the FFA team. Then we went to the rodeo grounds
and began judging. This year we finally got to judge horses. After the
judging we had a meeting. We turned our books in and got ready for
elections next meeting.
