Andrei Zapșa is one of the most talented emerging conductors from the Republic of

Moldova and one of the few who has focused mainly have turned their interest to on
music based inspired on by folk motives. His passion for traditional music was most
likely determined by his plurimultidimensional professional and writing activity. It is
also necessary toworth mentioning his increased attention for on opera genre and
preservation of authentic cultural heritage.

I've always enjoyed myself inside the music. It is not in vain that the great Enescu said
that "children who sing are closer to the sun". And I probably am as close as possible.
The world of music seemed fascinating to me. The National Philharmonic from
Chisinau, the Organ Hall, the National Opera and Ballet Theater "Maria Biesu" were
and remain my favorite refuges from the gloomy daily life.

He Zapșa was born in 1996, in Chisinau, the capital city of Republic of Moldova. , in
1996. He begins began his musical studies at the Theoretical High School "Ion
Creangă", in the a class with musical-choral profile. He studies studied academic
singing and choral conducting with Maestro Ștefan Andronic, knight of the Gloria
Muncii Order and Maestro of Arts of the Republic of Moldova.

One of my essential childhood pleasures was choral singing. It was also the one which
contributed essentially to my training and vision as a musician, as well as challenged me
to understand that the choral activity is not necessarily the culmination of my
aspirations.

He carries carried out studies and professional activity in various fields, such as music,
economics, pedagogy and others. During the years 2014-2020 he works worked as a
teacher at two colleges, commercial director at three companies, at the national radio
station, etc., trying to combine seemingly apparently incompatible areas of activity.

For as long as I can remember, there have been many voices trying to convince me that
music is not serious, not something good enough to do for a living. And I have to admit
that they were close to succedsucceed. But that's what my mother and father made me: a
great fan of music and beauty. Music brought me the greatest joy. It is also the one who
that apparently brings me the greatest unhappiness and curses. But that's the only way
we know the fair value. By comparison. I tried to run away from music countless times.
And when I thought I had succeeded, it caught up with me and showed me that there
could be nothing more stupid than that. Being an artist, after all, is not just a
profession, it's not just a vocation, it's not just a lifestyle. Being an artist is a destiny.

He was influenced by a large number of conductors, including Madalina Ganea, Stefan

Andronic, Maestros Gheorghe Mustea and Mihail Secikin. As he likes to say, “yet
Celibidache is the phenomenon that dictates the weather in my musical development,
because as he himself said" 'You don't do anything, you let it evolve.'"., And tThat's
how hHe works till now, without doing anything He he is letingletting me evolve.”

I was very lucky to have great teachers. Real titans of music and the arts. And it is a
well-known fact that the personal model of behavior is the most effective teacher.
Highlighting the maestros Șt. Andronic and Gh. Mustea, besides the fact that they are
exceptional musicians, I am glad that they are my spiritual parents, rather than just
mentors.

He made his literary debut in 2015 with the Trilogy "The Great Battle", which he launches
launched in 2016 together with the premiere of the orchestral suite signed by himself in which
he tried himself as a composer. In 2017 he published the novel "Way to Indonesia" which he
launches launched in the city of Surabaya, Republic of Indonesia, during a great „Indonesian
Channel” concert, which implied participation of more than 200 individuals and artists from 48
countries. In 2018 he publishes published the novel "Nomadul. The Call of King” (original in
romanianRomanian: Nomadul. Chemarea lui Vodă), which classified made it toin the finals of
"Open Eurasia" international contest, organized during the Open Eurasian Literature Festival
2019, Brussels, 8th Edition.

Many ask how music can be combined with literature. How to write books and keep directing.
But I don't see them one without each otheras separate lines. I can only conceive myself in both.
Because we're talking about art. We're talking about beauty. About that beauty, that will save
the world! If God wants to punish you: he leaves you the right to choose. Choose the direction in
which to limit yourself. And when he wants to help you, He gives you the strength to manage it
all.

Besides the orchestra he established in the Republic of Moldova, he founded and conducted an
orchestra of academic music in the city of Makassar (Indonesia), being the only such band on
the island of Sulawesi. He collaborated with „Vocile Primăverii” Chorus, Symphonic Orhestra
of "Serghei Lunchevici" National Philharmonic from Chisinau and others.

The activity at the desk of a symphony orchestra is always accompanied by a series of sensations
incomparable to anything else. Activating this human mechanism, capable of creating magic, is
a great fortune. Here is the proof that music unites everyone (except maybe neighbors and
aerophone instrumentists).

Music contains a multitude of answers to fundamental questions. It also contains solutions to

problems such as racism and intolerance. That is why it is very important to preserve the
heritage, to research and understand it, to make it accessible to the masses.

Many wonder how important the conductor is to the orchestra. Is he/she significant? Can you
manage to held great performances without them?

Surely! But a lot depends on what we mean by great performance. I am convinced, however,
that conductors are indispensable for the fullness of the "concert act" and for the rendering of
the musical image itself. When the conductor looks at the score - he sees the roots of the work,
when he looks at the orchestra - he lives the life of the opera, and when he sometimes looks at
the zenith of the stage - he addresses the creation towards divinity. As the poet Grigore Vieru
used to say: "When you listen to music, uncover your head, because you are sitting at a table
with the gods".

Andrei Zapșa is a passionate discoverer and promoter of asianAsian music in Europe, bringing
to the stages music signed by indonesianIndonesian, koreanKorean, chineseChinese and
japaneseJapanese composers.

However, he is still taking his first steps in conducting career in general. He is also passionate
about the music education process, serving as a deputy director at a prestigious Chisinau
Lyceum, responsible fordealing with creative education. Andrei is taking part in lots of
international projects which are promoting the need of culture across the world.

On February 8, 2019, Anderi Zapsa was decorated by the President of the Republic of Moldova
with the "Mihai Eminescu" Medal, state award for special merits in creative activity.

I have always been attracted by the multitude of forms that music can express, being the only
phenomenathe only phenomenon, which will keep being itself in every place of this universe. The
most important thing we have to do is to keep creating. It's certainly pleasant when we are
appreciated for what we do, but that's not the most important thing.

Andrei Zapșa is still at the beginning of his musical journey, but on the horizon there is the
dawn of a beautiful adventure in the world of sounds, an adventure that we believe is worth
following in the years to come.
