INTRODUCERE

s-a realizat.
comportamentală a managementului calităţii totale: managementul transversal (motivare),
lidershipul, schimbarea şi creativitatea.
Capitolul 2.
psihomoral, principiul utilităţii, principiul corelaţiei, principiul metodic);
- criteriile de clasificare a problemei enunţate;
obiectivul general şi obiectivele specifice;
majore:
- motivarea (managementul transversal);
4
- schimbarea;
- creativitatea;
- lidershipul.
Capitolul 4.
schimbare şi creativitate;

analogic);
modificarea naturii lui;
cunoaşterii şi se bazează pe fapte reale şi terificabile;
accentul pus pe aspectele practice ale tematicii abordate;
adecvare a modelelor la ceea ce societatea o cere;
al capacităţii de a proiecta sau al interacţiunii dintre subiect şi obiectul studiat;

organizaţie;
- analiza critică a conceptelor cu care s-a operat în realizarea demersului ştiinţific;
cu care se va opera în realizarea demersului ştiinţific;
- realizarea unei perspective comparativ critică a relaţiei dintre actorii implicaţi în
demersul calitate;
- efectuarea unei cercetări empirice sub semnul paradigmei CSM (calitate, securitate,
3. Contribuţii aduse la nivelul ştiinţific-curricular:
- elaborarea rapoartelor intermediare în cadrul programului de doctorat;
- elaborarea tezei de doctorat.
8
- folosirea de termene şi concepte care nu au fost bine înţelese de către respondenţi;
- reţinerea de a răspunde onest la întrebări în pofida asigurării confidenţialităţii;
- acordarea unui interes superficial în completarea chestionarelor.

INTRODUCTION
18
6. The principle of accessibility, because the doctoral thesis is drafted in a modern way both
from the point of view of the language used and the concepts with which it operates in
the design of the integrated system of total quality management from the behavioural
perspective.
7. The principle of economy, first of all in terms of economy of the doctoral thesis, proving
a balanced structure between the theory and the practical aspects of the thematic
approach. Secondly, the economy was considered as the main criterion in obtaining and
evaluating organizational performance.
8. The principle of universality, according to which the proposed recommendations do not
suffer of exclusivity and completeness being implemented in any type of organization,
improved according to the concrete conditions specific to each organization.
We can say that there is no ideal solution, but concrete solutions, adapted to the existing
conditions of the organization.
The structure of the doctoral thesis is considered the product of the subject matter of the
scientific approach. The basis of this structure is the objectives and assumptions made regarding
the design of the integrated total quality management system from the behavioural perspective.
The structure of the doctoral thesis is as follows:
Chapter 1. The need to build an integrated quality management system presents the
quality-security-environment paradigm under the sign of which the whole scientific approach has
been achieved. The two categories of stakes in the integrated management system have been
highlighted: stakes specific to each component of the paradigm (quality-security-environment)
and common stakes. It continues with the evolution of the quality concept from the perspective
of the SCM paradigm, highlighting the shift from quality management to global quality
management. Chapter 1 ends with the presentation of the fundamental elements that define the
behavioural dimension of total quality management: transversal management (motivation),
leadership, change and creativity.
Chapter 2 titled The Methodology of Research from the perspective of the achievement
of scientific approach presents, first of all, the epistemological positioning of the scientific
approach. Secondly, the methodological aspects of the scientific approach are presented:
- the principles of the scientific approach (the principle of competence, the principle of
objectivity, the principle of truth, the principle of demonstration, the principle of results
evaluation, the psycho-moral principle, the principle of utility, the principle of
correlation, the methodological principle);
- criteria for classifying the topic;
- Descartes’s methodical rules considered when achieving the scientific approach:
the overall goal and particular objectives;
the central hypothesis and the working hypothesis
In order to substantiate the need to design an integrated system of total quality
management from behavioural perspectives, a preliminary study on identifying training needs
was conducted for 100 managers from 10 multinational companies. The case study aimed at
identifying the malfunctions in the human resources management and the argumentation of the
model design in this respect.
Chapter 3 is devoted to the empirical research conducted on the four major themes:
- motivation (transversal management);
- change;
- creativity;
19
- leadership.
Chapter 4. The design of the integrated quality management system from
behavioural perspective addresses the issues related to this approach:
- model behaviours - presentation of all components and identification of possible
management methods and techniques to be implemented: leadership, motivation, change
and creativity;
- the context of designing the SIMCTPC model, highlighting the underlying economic,
social and environmental stakes.
The question is: why is the epistemological positioning of the scientific approach
necessary? The answer is found in the following statement: “The purpose of science is to know
the uniformity of phenomena, and therefore we must follow any path, any method that leads to
purpose”4.
First of all, it is necessary to know the state of knowledge in the field in order to be able
to fit the announced issue of the scientific approach. Epistemology (the study of science or the
study of knowledge) leads the researcher in the world of sciences. On this occasion, action plans
and interferences with other sciences are established.
Secondly, critical study is needed. Critical study is more than a scientific analysis. The
critical study has as object the discovery and knowledge of the world on a certain segment of it.
Epistemology is the critical speech on scientific knowledge in any field. Epistemology is that
branch of the theory of science and, at the same time, of philosophy that investigates the origin,
structure, methods and validity of scientific knowledge. It is its task to determine the conditions,
the value and the limits of scientific knowledge, to realize the degree of doubt and certainty that
the acquired science carries, as well as the methods by which the doubt can be diminished and
certainty can be increased5.
Thirdly, there is a need for a multidimensional analysis of knowledge that requires
interdisciplinarity. Any scientific approach is a search and a change of paradigms. Epistemology
is an urge to fundamental reading to get used to the practice of abstract thinking.
From the epistemological perspective, the scientific approach is a positivist and
constructivist approach of the topic. The arguments for which the present scientific approach is
positive are the following:
it is considered that, always, scientific knowledge implies the anthology;
science has a true criterion. A sentence is true if it actually describes reality. The
purpose of science is to discover the truth (the principle of analogy);
the principle of objectivity: if the real is in itself, it must exist independently of the
subject that perceives and observes it. This must not affect the change in its
nature;
scientific knowledge is considered authentic, the highest form of knowledge, and
is based on real and verifiable facts;

the emphasis on the practical aspects of the topic addressed;
the scientific approach is based on a deductive and disjunctive logic in the sense
that the problem addressed has been broken down into elements to be studied in a
model of improvement of quality management.
At the same time, the present doctoral thesis is a constructivist approach from several
points of view:
of representativeness, namely research is based on the experiments of the real, of
what is representative from the studied field, inducing a process of matching the
models to what society demands;
of ability to design or of interaction between subject and object studied;
of general argumentation supported by the multiplicity of possible judgments.

The originality of the doctoral thesis consists not only in the manner in which the
scientific approach was made, but also in the contributions made by the author to the
improvement of the managerial practice in the field. Thus these contributions can be structured
into four categories:
4. Synthetic contributions:
- using interdisciplinarity as a key element in addressing quality management from the
behavioural perspective, highlighting the balance that must exist between the two
levels of approach, both at the individual and at the organization level;
- critical analysis of the concepts used to achieve this scientific approach;
22
- ensuring the consistency between the logic and the structuring of the scientific
approach, from the perspective of achieving the general objective of the doctoral
thesis, i.e. from simple to complex, from general to particular;
5. Theoretical and experimental contributions:
- give a new impetus to the evolution of the concerns to identify the concepts with
which to work in the realization of the scientific approach;
- achieving a comparatively critical perspective of the relationship between the actors
involved in the quality approach;
- introducing new concepts in the literature (quality-security-environment paradigm,
integrated management system from behavioural perspective, self-client, human-
enterprise-environment trilogy, resilience strategy, leader in the third power,
organizational coherence, total leader, leader’s existential decalogue).
- conducting an empirical research under the sign of the CSM (Quality, Security,
Environment) paradigm from a positivist, interpretative and constructivist
perspective, considering the four major themes that outline the scientific approach:
leadership, motivation, change and creativity. The interdisciplinary character lies in
the fact that were used concepts belonging to fields such as general management,
management, sociology, statistics, psychology.
6. Contributions brought to the scientific-curricular level:
- elaboration of interim reports within the doctoral program;
- elaboration of the doctoral thesis.
- Carrying out the SIMCTPC model (integrated quality management system from a
behavioural perspective)
- Approaching quality management from a less common perspective in the literature,
namely that of the behavioural dimension.
- Comparative study of different concepts of quality management theory.
- Addressing the proposed topic in an integrated way by identifying the related
elements that influence the quality approach, focusing on the human resource.
- The PhD thesis launches new challenges by leaving open gates to deepen some
concepts, solutions proposed.
- Through the SIMCTPC model has been created a strategic benchmark for the
decision-maker in terms of organization management.
There are three criteria from which it is appreciated the usefulness of a doctoral thesis:
4. The scientific level, in the sense that it contributes to the development of knowledge
in the field of quality management from the perspective of the behavioural dimension.
5. The didactic level, the doctoral thesis being a good case study for those who want to
start such type of research.
6. The applied level, the doctoral thesis being assimilated to a guide of good practice for
specialists, thus contributing to the enrichment of the managerial practice.

LIMITATIONS OF THE SCIENTIFIC APPROACH
The limitations of any scientific research approach, for objective reasons, lies in the fact
that it cannot be extended to a larger community. In addition, the aspect of the temporality of the
scientific approach is another aspect to be considered. Another source of limitation of the
scientific approach is the possible subjectivity for various reasons, of the respondents, which
cannot be controlled. Given that responses received are based on respondents’ opinions there is a
risk that they do not reflect the real level of the assessed issues. There are several reasons:
- the use of terms and concepts that were not well understood by respondents;
- the refusal to respond honestly to questions while ensuring confidentiality;
- giving a superficial interest in filling the questionnaires.
