Personal Prescription Paper

I’ve grown up hearing my parents say “everything can be bought besides

health.” Everyone wants to live in a happy and enjoyable life. I personally have

tried to enjoy every second of my life. However as the years pass I’ve noticed

that people barely reach their 80’s. On the other hand, there are some people

who are old but have the strength and the beauty of the youth. Surely I want to

imitate these people, and not the ones that are full of health issues. Therefore

I’ve set a goal on improving and stabilizing my current health. It is very important

and beneficial to know how the human body works and to know how one should

control a healthy lifestyle. However this information alone is not enough for one

to start taking control of his/her health. Therefore this is where health

assessment tests come to help. I personally used the example that was written

by Donatelle Rebecca. After the quick test I was able to conclude that overall my

health is in a good state. However, there is always a place to improve.

Surprisingly, my physical and social health were at the same score.However, my

emotional health score was lower by two points. Three dimensions of health

which I should work on in order to manage a healthier lifestyle are my emotional,

physical and social health.

The first dimension of health on which I should work on is my physical

health. I am a very energetic person. I enjoy running, dancing and doing similar

activities. However, because of my laziness I haven’t been exercising for already

two years. Therefore, the first thing that I should start doing is exercising every

morning. Secondly, I am not very happy with my body size. I am a little skinny for

my height. It has never bothered me, however I do realize and my doctor has

been telling me that I need to gain a little weight. Therefore, my second goal is to

eat regularly and healthy.Another thing that I want to work on is my sleeping. I

usually sleep more than 8 hours, and I always feel tired because of that.

Moreover, I sleep at a very late time and wake up in the afternoon. Due to the

late sleeping I sometimes get headaches. Therefore, my third goal regarding my

physical health is to not sleep late and try to wake up in the mornings. After

applying these three goals, I am sure that I will see great results.

The second dimension of health which I need to work on is social health.I

was born in Armenia, and I came to the United States when I was 12 years old.

During the first three years my English was not as fluent which usually stopped

me from making many friends and being socially active. Then when my English

got better I started going to Glendale High School, where most of the students

were Armenians. Therefore my friend zone has always been limited with

Armenians. After answering some questions about my social health I came to the

conclusion that I need to make some changes. Of course, I love my friends and I

am not going to stop being socially active with them. However, I am going to try

to use every opportunity, whether it will be at the college or at my workplace, to

meet new people and make new friends. There are many cultures that I want to

explore and many personalities that I want to understand.

Lastly, the third dimension of health which I scored the lowest was emotional

health. The emotional health itself is a big understanding. I am a very emotional

person, by which I mean that I usually listen to my emotions. I am very free and

fast when expressing emotions; such as fear, love, and anger. I am not a person

who will keep the anger, love or other emotions inside me. Rather will yell, sing

and dance and be free to express whatever I will feel at a certain moment.

Moreover, I am not a big fan of alcohol, therefore whenever I am sad, drinking

alcohol doesn't even come to my mind. Another habit of mine is that I don’t like

judging people. Instead, I try to understand that every action has a reason. I don’t

take everything personally, nor do I fight back for everything. The only problem

that throughout a few years aroused in my emotional health is that I am usually

stressed and overloaded with homework. In the past I used to play piano every

day. I used to draw, sing and dance every day. However, now due to the dense

schedule I haven’t been doing much of what I love. Therefore, I have set a plan

to not worry as much as I do because of my classes, rather try to be relaxed and

do more of what I love.

The decisions I make regarding my health today will greatly impact my

health tomorrow. It is very important that each and every one of us understand

the importance of a sustainable healthy lifestyle. Our lifes is in our hands, and we

are the one that can make us happy.
