WetEnd Operational Task list.


(Doublebacker Zone consisting of Express doublebacker, Thermostack Triple Pre-heater, and
one roll stand/splicer,)
Upon completion of training for this corrugator zone, the operator will display a complete understanding of the 6
operational categories for a Singlefacer, two rollstands and splicers.

1. Safety
2. Thread-up
a. Roll stand/Splicer
b. Thermostack Pre-heater (Triple Stack)
c. Crest Glue Unit.
d. Express Doublebacker (Hot Plate Section).
3. Start-up
a. Proper start-up and shutdown sequences
4. Diagnostics – T/S
5. General house keeping practice during a shut down.
6. Operational Adjustments.

Safety
The WetEnd operator will be able to locate:
1. All Safety devices for Rollstands/Splicers, Triple stack, Glue Unit, and Doublebacker.
a. Safety devices and their locations.
i. Main Isolation Devices (To access a machine for maintenance all main energy must be off
and locked per Plant Lock out Tag out procedures.)
1. Electrical
2. Pneumatic
3. Kinetic
4. Hydraulic
5. Steam
6. Liquid
ii. Secondary Isolation devises.( Restricts some energy sources from machine, and will stop
machine if running. Gives access to machine for minor jam clearing. Must follow Plant
Lock out Tag out procedures.)
iii. Process Isolation Device. (Allows access to limited areas of machine while it is operating.

M2 Roll Stand
1. The operator will demonstrate the ability to Load and Unload Paper rolls using the controls available on the
M2 Roll Stand control panel. Load either the “A” side or the “B” side using manual or semi-automatic
operations.
2. Using the Touch Display panel on the M2 Roll Stand. The operator can:
a. Center Roll on running roll or center line of machine.
b. Show status of each side of roll stand.
c. Status of Chuck controls ejector plate retracted or loaded.
d. Manually move core ejector plate.
3. Operator will refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for (Section 5):
a. Daily Preventive Maintenance schedules.
b. Weekly Preventive Maintenance schedules.

Link 400 Splicer


1. The operator will demonstrate the ability to:
a. Identify the main components of the splicer.
i. Dancer
ii. Splice head truck
iii. Accelerator roll.
iv. A side
v. B side
b. Complete the proper sequence to thread-up splicer.
i. From either A or B sides.
c. Complete the proper sequence to prep paper to splice into a running roll.
i. Correctly taper paper when going from narrow to wide widths.
d. Change Running roll from the Touch Display on main control panel.
e. Locate the Alarms page to aid in diagnostics.
f. Locate the Production page and determine:
i. Machine Status
ii. Safety guard status
iii. Roll status
g. Clean-up after a normal shut down.
2. Operator will refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual for (Section 5):
a. Daily Preventive Maintenance schedules.
b. Weekly Preventive Maintenance schedules.

ThermoStack (Triple Pre-heater)


1. The Operator will demonstrate:
a. The proper thread up procedures for:
i. Level 2 bridge and Singleface
ii. Level 1 bridge and Singleface.
iii. Bottom Liner from rollstand / splicer #1.
b. The proper settings for:
i. Drive Control switch.
ii. Wrap Arm switch.
iii. Guard Doors Switch.
iv. Control Switch.
c. Start-up procedure
i. Cold start
ii. After an E-Stop.
iii. After a Normal Stop.

Express Doublebacker
1. The Operator will demonstrate the ability to:
a. Identify main components of the glue machine.
b. Explain the function of each switch on main control Panel.
c. Explain the function of each of the primary screens on the panel display.
i. Home Screen
ii. Alarm Screen
iii. Steam Shower Screen
iv. Shoe Control Auto/ Manual Screen
v. Pre-heater Screen
d. Thread-up
i. Single-face
ii. Both Single face #1 & #2.
iii. Bottom Liner.
e. Perform a Cold Start-up
i. Typically called Belt warm-up cycle.
f. Perform a Start-up after an E-stop.
g. Clear Jam procedure.
h. Complete the proper procedures for an End of Shift Clean-up.
