II. Tell whether the relation is a function. Explain.

FUNCTION

 Every element in X is related to Y and no element in


X has two or more relationship it follows the one-to-
one mapping.

FUNCTION

 All elements in X are related to Y. No element in X has


two or more relationship with Y. Although the second
element of the range associates with more than 1
element in domain it still followed the many to one
mapping so it is considered a function.

FUNCTION

 The output has only one element and it associates with


all elements in input. However, it is still considered as a
function since it follows the many to one mapping rule.

One-to-one mapping (Function)

-Every element of output (Y) corresponds to only one element of input (X) vice versa.

Many-to-one mapping (Function)

-One elements of Y (output) are corresponds to more than one elements of X (input).

One-to-many mapping (Not Function)

-One element of X (input) corresponds with two or more elements in Y (output).
