1. GENERAL
1.1. ATIS

1.2. NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURES


1.2.1. GENERAL
Except for security reasons, the noise abatement procedures must be followed as
indicated below:
- IFR ACFT with an approved SID and take-off on RWY 20 must follow the path
stated in the SID, without turning prior to D6.0 GIR.
- Except for take-off and landing, operations are not allowed within the traffic
circuit below 2000' AAL for CAT C and D ACFT and below 1500' AAL for CAT A
and B ACFT.
- Overflying of city center should be avoided.
- For CAT C and D ACFT training flights are not allowed during local holidays
and weekends.

1.3. LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURES (LVP)


1.3.1. GENERAL
Pilots shall be informed via ATIS or RTF, if LVP are applied.
In any case, LVP are active in the maneuvering area when RVR is equal to or lower
than 600m or when cloud ceiling is 75m or below.
1.3.2. GROUND MOVEMENT
Once LVP are activated, only the movement of one ACFT shall be authorized at
the same time in the maneuvering area and the taxiing of another one in the
apron.
TWYs E2 and E3 as well as gate G-3 shall remain closed.
When an ACFT is taxiing in the apron, autonomous or towed push-back exits from
the stand will not be authorized by ATC.
1.3.3. ARRIVALS
RWY vacating should be made via TWYs E1 or E4.
When appropriate, the pilots shall notify:
- RWY vacated.
- Sensitive area vacated.
- Once in the apron, the stand and frequency out.
ACFT of code letter E shall access the apron via G-3 up to stand 12C.
If RVR is lower than 185m and TWY centerline lights are not operational, ACFT
shall proceed guided by a Follow-me vehicle from the point of vacating the RWY
to the ACFT stand.

1. GENERAL
1.3.4. DEPARTURES
Access to the RWY should be made via TWY E1 or E4.
When appropriate, the pilots shall notify:
- Parking position.
- Towed push-back request in the case to be required.
- The start of taxiing towards gates G-1, G-2 or G-4.
- Entry to RWY.
If RVR is lower than 185m, ACFT shall proceed guided by a Follow-me vehicle
from ACFT stand (or the position following towing) to gates G-1, G-2 or G-4. In
case TWY centerline lights are not operational, ACFT shall proceed guided by a
Follow-me vehicle to the holding position for the RWY in use.

1.3.5. ANOMALOUS SITUATIONS IN THE MANEUVERING AREA


Uncertainty about position in the maneuvering area:
- If a pilot is in doubt about the position of the ACFT in relation to the maneu-
vering area, they must immediately halt the ACFT and report this
circumstances to ATC (including the last known position).
- If a pilot is in doubt about the position of the ACFT in relation to the maneu-
vering area, but recognizes that the ACFT is on a RWY, the pilot shall
immediately report this to ATC (including the last known position) and vacate
the RWY as soon as possible, if they can find an appropriate TWY nearby and
halt the ACFT, unless ATC indicate otherwise.
Loss of visual contact between mobile elements:
- If one ACFT loses visual contact with another or with a vehicle with which it
is maintaining its own separation, ATC shall be informed immediately and the
ACFT halted.
Breakdown of ACFT:
- It shall report the situation to ATC and await the arrival of assistance. Should
it find itself on a RWY, if possible and unless ATC should indicate otherwise,
this shall be vacated.
1.3.6. PRACTICE APPROACHES CAT II/III
Pilots who wish to carry out CAT II/III practice precision approaches, shall
request ATC to do so as soon as possible to permit the necessary measures to be
taken.

1.4. PARKING INFORMATION


Exit stands 1 thru 8, 12A, 12B,15 and 16 by push-back.
Stand 14 push-back required if stand 15 is occupied. Otherwise pilot is allowed to
use autonomous exit.

1. GENERAL
1.5 TAXI PROCEDURES
RWY access or exit via TWY E2 is not permitted for code letter D or higher ACFT.
Oversteering maneuver to the extent possible for code letter D (B767) or higher
ACFT, as there is less than 13'/4m between the outermost wheel of the main
landing gear of the ACFT and the edge of the TWY, at the following point:
- When accessing from TWYS to TWY G2, G3, G4.
In the case of code letter C ACFT halted at RWY access point E2, the taxiing of
other code letter C or higher ACFT will not be permitted via TWY T1 and T2.
In the case of code letter C or higher ACFT halted at RWY access point E3, the
taxiing of other code letter C or higher ACFT will not be permitted via TWY T4,
T5 and G3.

2. ARRIVAL
2.1. SPEED RESTRICTIONS
SPEED ADJUSTMENTS UNDER RADAR CONTROL
- 250 KT on SLP.
- 230 KT while in holding, at FL 140 or below.
SPEED ADJUSTMENTS ON APPROACH
- 220 KT when leaving IAF.
ACFT with cruising speed below those indicated above shall maintain cruising
speed up to the adjustment point of their concern. ATC shall be informed of the
speeds that may be maintained, if unable to comply with the speed adjustments
above.
ACFT will be exempt from complying with these speed limitations when a Contin-
uous Descent STAR is being performed, but not with those explicitly shown on
some IACs.

2.2. CAT II/III OPERATONS


RWY 20 is approved for CAT II/III operations, special aircrew and ACFT certifi-
cation required.

2.3. TAXI PROCEDURES


When arriving at RWY 20 at night, do not leave the RWY via TWY E-2.

3. DEPARTURE
3.1. START-UP, PUSH-BACK AND TAXI PROCEDURES
Pilots shall request start-up clearance on GND frequency reporting stand number.
Permission will be issued as soon as requested unless more than 15 minutes delay
are foreseen, in which case ATC will notify the start-up time.
When an ACFT is ready for push-back and/or taxiing, pilots shall request permis-
sion before starting it.
RWY 20 at NIGHT:
Do not enter the RWY via TWY E-2 to perform back-track.

Transponder Operating Regulations


The use of SSR transponder is mandatory for all ACFT
operating in Barcelona TMA.
If they are also equipped with Mode C, it will be
mandatory to reply in Mode A/C.
In case of transponder failure, pilots need Air Traffic
Services clearance to fly within the airspace where its use
is mandatory.

VFR Flights within Barcelona TMA

Transponder and two-way radio are mandatory for VFR flights within the Barcelona TMA.

Girona CTR VFR Procedure


Arrival
VFR ACFT bound for Girona AD shall establish radio contact with Girona APP before entering the CTR, at least
5 MIN before reaching VFR reporting points E, SE, SW or W where they shall accomplish holding pattern at
2000' SFC and request clearance to enter the CTR.
If possible, flights will be cleared, from the VFR holding point, to proceed direct to the AD traffic circuit and sup-
plied with landing instructions.
Departure
VFR ACFT wishing to leave the CTR shall be instructed before departure by TWR of the departure point to be
used, the direction of turn and altitude to be maintained.
Radio contact shall be established with TWR when leaving the CTR limits.
Crossing
ACFT shall maintain MAX 2000' SFC unless otherwise advised by TWR or APP.
Radio COM Failure
ACFT with communications failure will enter the CTR via the SE route, maintaining 500' SFC or below, keeping at
east of the TWR and expecting light signals and avoiding any possible traffic in the AD traffic circuit.
