Title of Lesson: BODY SHAPES AND ACTION


1. Lesson Background:
This lesson is for 40 minutes for Grade 2. This is the first time that the students will learn
about the “BODY SHAPES AND ACTION”.

2. Learning Goals/Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
 Describe the proper body mechanics while standing;
 Move the body properly in response to sounds and music;
 Engage in fun and enjoyable physical activities.

3. Content/ Topic of the Lesson:


The lesson will focus on the topic “Basic Standing Positions and Movements”.

Skill/s: Locomotor, and Non-locomotor, Standing


Values: Cooperation, Alertness, Self-Discipline

Movement can be initiated from a variety of positions. To attain a position we start at one
and end in another. Posture is a position which one holds their body when standing,
sitting or position it in a way appropriate to the movement that is desirable kneeling,
lying or for a specific work.

The postures from which the movement is initiated are known as starting positions, these
can either be active or passive in nature. There are 5 fundamental starting positions
 Standing
 Kneeling
 Sitting
 Lying
 Hanging

 Power point presentation
 visual aids (tarpaper, cartolina)

6. Procedures:
6.1. Before the Lesson
a. Drill. Before introducing the topic and the discussion, the teacher will initiate to
play a game entitled “Move your body”. In this game, all the students are
encouraged to participate. A power point will be flashed on the screen and their
body part need to move or experience like (hips, hands, and feet). Each slide that
will be displayed contains pictures linked by one word in which the students’
aim is to work out. They will exercise in the rhythm of the song.

b. Review. There will be no review since this topic is the first lesson in Grade 2 PE
class.
6.2) During the Lesson
 Presentation. The teacher will introduce the topic by presenting a video clip
about the topic “Basic Standing Positions and Movements”.

 Right after the video, the teacher will introduce the set of objectives for the
pupils to become guided throughout the class. The video will last for 5 minutes
and 2 minutes for the objectives.
 Discussion.
a. After introducing the set of objectives, the teacher will ask her pupils
about what they have learned from the video they have watched about
Basic Standing Positions and Movements. To test whether the pupils
understand the lesson the teacher will ask pupils about what they have
remember from the video and ask them to stand and show examples of
basic standing positions and movements.

b. Then the teacher will go directly with the discussion. Power point
presentation will be provided that will serve as a guide for her pupils.
The teacher will discuss about the topic “Basic Standing Positions and
Movements”. All through the discussion, the teacher will ask questions
to engage pupils in listen and will also entertain questions and concerns
regarding the discussion from her pupils. This part will be done for 15 to
20 minutes.

 Application: Merry-Go-Round

Direction: Using the base method. Divide the pupils into four groups. Ask them to
form the shape assigned in each base. They should have formed the shapes at the end
of the song (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star) and move to the next base using the
prescribed locomotor movement.

Station 1 – Form a circle shape with arms upward


Station 2 – Form a square shape with arms sideward
Station 3 –Form a triangle with arms in front
Station 4 – Form a diamond shape with arms in front

Direction: The teacher may use a whistle, clap or alter the signal so that pupils can develop alertness. The
teacher blows a whistle.
Once …….. Pupils stand with feet together (parallel)
Twice …….. Pupils do stride stand (stand with feet apart)
Thrice …….. Pupils do side lunge position

Ask: Were you able to follow the signals? How?

(Note: This activity allows you to correct pupil’s posture problems.)
