Question 1: How useful have you found this evening’s lecture?

Brilliant, Excellent, very useful and interesting, have heard the talk before bud find it
very interesting, really enjoyed it, good reminder and very interesting, the handouts
will come in useful, very touching, very interesting from a personal perspective, as a
midwife awareness of depression is very useful, reminder to keep PND high on the
agenda, personal and emotional, well presented and fun, disappointing that groups
have been stopped and also visits decreased (birth 4-6wks and 3-4mths)

Question 2: What could we do to improve future sessions?

Everything very well done, advertise sessions more widely, vary times, early evenings
in Winter, nothing – great session and venue, the sessions are excellent

pregnancy, ante-natal screening, domestic abuse, complementary therapies, obesity in
pregnancy, support for still birth/miscarriage, autism, ADHD, childhood constipation,

Key Learning’s from evening:

Look-listen-learn-help, remember to look for small clues and ask how people are
feeling, listen time, better insight into PND, FINE!, signs and symptoms of
PND/mental illness, even a little gesture/time can make a big difference, never
assume, fascinating insights, can’t single out one point – all was valuable, continue to
offer support, support all women with PND and to ask them if they are ok – and if
they are really ok!, remember to question, persevere with hand to reach whoever they
are (i.e not classed as vulnerable group), why won’t they answer door/pick up
phone/return call?,

Key Learning’s from the evening:

Always try to listen and facilitate openness, take more time listening to people, be
more instinctive, be more understanding of mental illness in general, try to spend
more time listening and talking to new mums, never assume always make time,
always include partner, listen, be more aware of situations, ask people how they are
really feeling, question, challenge when the reply is I’m fine!
