The program that is currently used in my classroom is a mixture of the three different

programs. Although we use the motto be kind and work hard as our schoolwide motto it was not

just enough to say it. The motto is superficial students needed to believe not just say it. Children

needed to understand what being kind meant. Kindness is something that most children learn

from a very young age. However, there are students who do not know what being kind means.

We adopted the Be Kind Like Josh campaign for our individual classroom program. The reason

we choose this is because Josh was a child, someone my children could relate to and if he was

capable of touching so many students then they understood that they were just a capable.

With the school using the model it made it more meaningful when we adopted the Be

Kind like Josh campaign. We have a portion of the day where we share the acts of kindness that

we saw someone do, the kids look forward to giving praise to each other for being kind. It

allowed us to develop more meaningful friendships as well as be conscious of our own moments

of being kind. We have learned that kindness is something that costs us nothing but gives us joy

beyond anything we could have imagined.
