• Read Fundamentals of Reservoir Engineering by L. P. Dake thoroughly for building concepts. You can skip
chapter 7 & 8 of that book.
• Applied Petroleum Reservoir Engineering by Craft & Hawkins should be read word by word. Use this book to
practice numerical. You can skip chapter 10.
• Introduction to Petroleum Reservoir Engineering by Zolotukhin for practicing numerical.
• Read chapter 2 & 3 of Petroleum Reservoir Engineering by Amyx.

Drilling Technology:
• Drilling Engineering by Heriott Watt.
• Oil Well Engineering by H. Rabia.

Production Engineering:
• Petroleum Production Engineering by Boyun Guo. Read chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 16, 17, & 18.
• Petroleum Production Systems by Economides. Read chapter 7 to 12.
• SPE Petroleum Engineering Handbook, Volume IV. Read chapter 1 & 2.
• Refer Ken Arnold for Surface Facilities.
• Refer Production Engineering books by Heriott Watt for in depth understanding about specific topics.
• Watch IHRDC Videos on YouTube for Artificial Lift.
• Refer Allen & Roberts for Workover & Well Stimulations. Smart study required by online resources.

Note: For drilling and production, line by line study is not required. Smart study with special focus on fundamentals,
formula, equipment, terminology.Utilize YouTube, PetroWiki, Schlumberger’s Oil Field Glossary. Use Formulas and
Calculations for Drilling, Production and Workover by Norton J. Laperyrouse.

• Chapter 10 of Basin Analysis by Philip A. Allen and John R. Allen.

Formation Evaluation:
• Paul Glover Notes. Read them thoroughly, and read them twice.
