Hello, it’s Raghav Goel of class 7th grade at mind tree school. Though I really love all the
characters in the Harry Potter universe, the character by who I am really fantasized is
the potions master, Severus Snape. He faces all the hurdles in life grimly and though he
attempts to put on an emotionless mask, inside he is brimming of emotions. Enacting a
misunderstood evil role throughout the Harry Potter series, he faces the most heart
warping situations. Truly said by Harry Potter he is the bravest man, whom I admire for
his immense intelligence and triumph over sentiments.

There are tons of differences between the book and the movie due to some parts of the
book being highly impossible to act and are somewhat unexciting thus the director's
decision to cut these roles out. The main highlighting difference is that it is Professor
Binns ,the ghostly history teacher, who acquaints them to the then mystical seeming
chamber of secrets legend. However in the movies ,in a desperate try to shorten the
movie,no appearance of Professor Binns was made ,with Professor McGonagall
introducing them to the concept of the chamber of secrets when poked by a keen
Hermione Granger.

Since the harry potter series is solely based on the books, there are loads of similarities
between the movie and book version. In both of the mediums, it is the 12 th birthday of
harry that kickstarts the story, with the final fight in the legendary chamber of secrets,
putting an end to the diary of tom riddle.

Severus Snape appears in all eight Harry Potter films, portrayed by British actor Alan
Rickman. Rickman's performance as Snape was widely acclaimed by critics, fans, and
Rowling herself. Entertainment Weekly listed Rickman as one of the most popular movie
stars in 2007 for his performance as Snape, saying: "As the icy, humorless magic
instructor Severus Snape, Rickman may not be on-screen long—but he owns every
minute. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifteen-year-old Snape
(portrayed by Alec Hopkins) makes a brief appearance in a flashback to Snape's youth.
He portrays the role of an exceptionally skilled wizard whose cold sarcasm and
controlled exterior conceals emotions and anguish, a role that even a prolific actor like
Alan Rickman struggled yet enjoyed to perform.

The climax scene in Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets starts when the duo of Ron
and harry enter the famed Salazar Slytherin’s chamber of secrets. During the nerve-
wracking fight of Slytherin’s Basilisk vs Harry Potter and his newly become allies,
Fawkes ,the phoenix, and the sorting hat, the real climax scene starts. Harry finally
defeats the evil Tom Marvolo Riddle, aka Lord Voldemort . Harry Potter finally saves
Ginevra Weasley, risking his life in the meantime, during the true denouement scene of
Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets thus making the end of a Horcrux, the diary, a
crucial step in the evolvement of the harry potter series.

During the commercialization of the book into the film, since the directors were
unfamiliar to the fact that the films would be so successful ,the shortest book of them
all was turned into the longest film.During the commercialization, one of our most
imaginable character’s views in our mind was shattered ,Tom Marvolo Riddle. Filming
on Chamber of Secrets started three days after Philosopher’s Stone  finished. This makes
the Chamber of Secrets  the only one of the films to be produced and released within the
same year  .In the UK, the film became the first movie to achieve a million DVD sales in
its first weekend. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was published in the UK on 2
July 1998 and in the US on 2 June 1999.[4][5] It immediately took first place in UK
bestseller lists, Terry Pratchett and other popular authors  and making Rowling the first
author to win the British Book Awards Children's Book of the Year for two years .
Though both books and movies were highly accredited,it is difficult to distinguish
between the fame both have earned .

Though I liked both films and books,my personal appeal lies in the books. The books
kindle our imagination as they restrict the media to words hence giving us void space to
put the characters and the set all by ourselves whereas the movies perform the exact
opposite role. The books I feel have a spark of creativity and imagination which the
movies lack as they are after all based on the books. Also, the movies miss some pivotal
scenes as they can’t, of course, put all the scenes have into a 3-hour movie. The directors
feel it is necessary to omit some chapters which may not seem as important and exciting
.
