What is included in 2nd Grade Mad Minutes:

2nd Grade Mad Minutes are intended to review and help your student become proficient at typical 2nd grade math. Math
includes up to triple digit addition and subtractions including carrying numbers. In the 2nd half of the sheets simple
multiplication and division are also included with multiplication by 1 to 5s included. It is recommended that you practice
skip counting by 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s, to help students solve these equations quickly.

Each sheets also includes a word problem – as it is essential that students have regular practice with “real world” math
problems.

There are also 2 random math worksheets included. These are to help kids review mental math, writing numbers from
words to numbers, math using money, additional word problems, greater than and less than, as well as addition and
subtraction equations written horizontally.

Note: The worksheets get progressively harder from A to M. Worksheet (Worksheet A contains addition and subtraction
without carrying over numbers between columns.)

How to use Mad Minutes:

Give your student a Mad Minutes Worksheet face down. Set your timer and when you say “GO” they flip over the Mad
Minutes Worksheet and begin solving the math problems. Remind them that the goal is just as much accuracy as it is
speed.

Set your timer for 3-5 minutes. When you first present the worksheets I suggest giving them 5 minutes. This will ensure
most kids will be able to complete most if not all of the worksheet. When your student is becoming quicker with his
Math and is ready for more of a challenge you can lower your timer to 3 or 4 minutes.

Remember when you finish to go over the correct answers. (There are answer keys provided at the end of the
worksheets). This is the one time I allow my student to use a red pen or crayon and they can grade their own work.
Again, they are only trying to improve and better themselves.

Why Mad Minutes?

Mad Minutes helps students review and become proficient in math. It will help them gain speed and accuracy with
completing math problems which will help them in current and future math problems.
