This course will provide you with the key skills and language that you need to take part in meetings with confidence. What is in the course? The course consists of a DVD with an accompanying coursebook. A Trainer’ Guide with guidance on how to teach the course, suggestions for additional practice tasks and photocopiable classroom activities can be found at: wwwoupcomvelt/ teacher/successful The DVD ‘Andrew Mallet This has all the material necessary to help you improve your communication skills when taking part in meetings in English. It covers eight topics, from participating in and chairing @ meeting, to taking part in a teleconference and having a job interview, to networking and negotiating, In each unit, you will watch other people talk about their experiences of taking part in that type of meeting, and then you will see an extract of an actual meeting, But the key to this DVD is the expert commentary and analysis by Andrew Mallett, a communications trainer and coach. In every unit, he offers his insights into how to communicate effectively in meetings, and also analyses the meeting extracts that you will watch. How to use the course Successful Meetings is designed to be used both in the classroom or as a self-study course. Start each unit by watching the DVD and answering the questions in the coursebook. IFyou would like to learn about the language of meetings, you can turn to the Language focus section in the coursebook and do some exercises on useful phrases and vocabulary for that unit. Or you can jump straight to the Meetings task and put the skills you have learned into practice. While taking part in the task, use the Useful phrases box to help remind you of the key language for that meeting.
