Check is to be completed within 2-4 hours of ETOPS departure unless a higher level check has been completed.
Item Signature
1 Review aircraft logbook for reported discrepancies and oil consumption for previous flights. Correct
as necessary.
2 Verify status level messages and higher are resolved or approved dispatch paperwork is
applied. ETOPS Qualification Required.
3 General Visual Inspection (GVI) of the nose and main landing gear tires, wheels and
brakes for obvious damage and wear.
4 GVI of the static ports, Total Air Temperature (TAT) probes, pitot static probes, ice detector
probes (if installed) and angle-of-attack (AOA) sensors for obvious damage.
5 GVI of the fuselage and APU in areas of drain masts and drains for fluid leakage.
6 GVI of the fuselage access/service panels, hatches, navigation/communication antennas
and radome for obvious damage and security.
7 GVI of the vertical fin and rudder, visible portions of horizontal stabilizers and elevators for
general condition. If applicable, inspect the tail skid for strike indication and condition.
Refer to the maintenance manual procedures for resolution prior to ETOPS dispatch.
8 GVI of the left engine thrust reverser, exhaust tail plug, exhaust case strut and visible
turbine blades for obvious damage and evidence of metal/oil accumulation.
9 GVI of the right engine thrust reverser, exhaust tail plug, exhaust case strut and visible
turbine blades for obvious damage and evidence of metal/oil accumulation.
10 GVI of the left engine cowling, inlet cowl, nosedome and visible fan blades for obvious
damage; visually inspect access panels and blowout doors for condition and security. Also
visually inspect for open latches and signs of fluid leakage.
11 GVI of the right engine cowling, inlet cowl, nosedome and visible fan blades for obvious
damage. Visually inspect access panels and blowout doors for condition and security.
Also visually inspect for open latches and signs of fluid leakage.
12 GVI of the ram air inlet/exhaust doors and cabin pressure outflow valve to ensure there
are no obstructions.
13 GVI of the left and right leading edge and associated devices, wing lower surface, wing tip
area, and wing to fuselage section for general condition.
14 Verify the left engine oil level and service as necessary.

indications for this task.

Note: Unless otherwise specified, all GVIs are to be performed from ground level.
It is the recommendation of The Boeing Company to use the guidance contained in ETOPS Guide Volume I for
the 757 (D011N006) or 767 (D6T11605) airplane which ever is applicable, as well as ETOPS Guide Volume II
(D621T401) when developing a PDSC.
The September 1992 PDSC study information, following this section, will remain available for historical
purposes and provide guidance for initial 757/767 ETOPS operators.
