Assignment1

Introduction
The resistor is use to control the electric current flow through the electric circuit.
There have a lot of resistor and one of the resistors is with colour band. The colour
band on the resistor can let us calculate the value of resistor easily. The colour band
resistor also has different number of colour band like 4,5or6 colour band resistor.
Discussion
if we look at the table above, we can see there are digits, multipliers, and tolerance
represented in colours.

For the 4 band resistors, the first 2 are the digits, the third band being the multiplier,
and the final band is the tolerance between the calculation and measurement of the
resistor.
Example:

First two number is 5and2 so that put 5and2 together become 52.
The third is stand for multiplier which is 100.so take 52 multiply with 100 to get the
resistor value which is 5200ohm. Then the fourth colour bands are stand for
tolerances, the tolerance is±5%. (5200ohm±5%)

For the 5 band resistors, the first 3 bands are the digits, the fourth band are the
multiplier, and the last band is the tolerance between the calculation and
measurement of the resistor.
Example:

First 3 number is 3,3 and 9 so that put 3,3 and 9 together become 339.
The fourth band is stand for multiplier which is 1. So, take 339 multiply with 1 to get
the resistor value which is 339ohm.Then the fifth colour band is stand for tolerance
the tolerance is ±1%. (339ohm±1%)
For the 6 band resistors, the first 3 bands are the digits, the fourth band is the
multiplier and the fifth band are the tolerance, and the last band is the tolerance
between the calculation and measurement of the resistor. For sixth band resistor is
stand for temperature coefficient of the resistor.
Example:

First 4 number is 1,0,3 and 2 so put the four number together become 1032.
The fifth band is stand for multiplier which is 10000. So, take 1032 to multiply with
10000 to get the resistor value which is 1032mohm.Then the last colour band is
stand for tolerance the tolerance is ±1%. The temperature coefficient is 100 ppm/k.
(1032mohm±1% 100ppm/k)

Conclusion
In the conclusion different number of colour band also have different calculation
method. For the colour band resistor, we can know the value of resistor just by using
calculate method. Non like other resistor need to use multi meter to measure the
value of resistor. but if using the calculate method to calculate the value of colour
band resistor it would have a tolerance with using multi meter to measure .
