Gambling can make you rich! Gambling might not make you rich, but it benefits the

states. Gambling brings in much needed revenue for schools and state budgets. Gambling

should be unrestricted because it should be the individual’s choice online gambling is already

regulated and safe and it could help bring in much needed revenue.

Gambling is the wagering of bets on hoping you’re going to get lucky and win money or

a prize. Gambling all started around 1910 when it was illegal or heavily restricted for people to

participate in. Gambling was illegal anywhere you went until 1931 when Nevada re-legalized

casino gambling many other states saw this and passed the law as well. The gambling industry

did not really take off until 1988 when the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was passed this allows

tribes to run casinos on their lands as long as they did not run any games that were prohibited

by the state. Many Indians took advantage of this there are 506 gaming facilities in twenty-nine

states operated by Native American tribes. Gambling can be a big asset to the US In 2016 a

Gallup poll was healed and it said 64 percent of Americans participate in some form of gambling

activity in 2017 The gambling industry employed over 120,000 people which is over 9000

people in states like Nevada and Pennsylvania (Gambling). This all helps because most of the

money brought it from gambling goes to state funds or education and state parks.

Gambling can also bring life back. Michigan is one of the newest states to legalize online

gambling. The law is expected to be signed by Whitmer that will allow existing licensed casinos

to offer poker, blackjack, slots and other casino-style games over the Internet. This law will also
allow casinos to set up live wagers for sports betting. This was even considered because it is

expected to raise 15-40 million for school aid alone. But Michigan sees this as an even bigger

game-changer many bars and local restaurants are starting to act by adding TVs and

advertising sports betting coming soon they are hoping it will bring much needed business back

into the streets of downtown Detroit. Detroit was once a place to visit you couldn't mention

Michigan without saying Detroit. Around the late 80s early 90s Detroit started to fall off and was

even once listed as the murder capital many people started to leave and thought it wasn't a safe

place to live anymore, But with crime rates declining and this new law many people are starting

to say this is what Detroit needs to make it the place it once was by bringing in more

people/tourist witch would jus bring that much needed life back and could even raise money to

help the terrible Detroit Lions team.

Today gambling is legal in all but two states and most Americans enjoy it. The popularity

of online gambling is starting to grow and many see it as a problem or fear they might be a part

of the next big scam like in 2008 when employees of the gambling platform Absolutepoker.com

hacked the site and made it to where they could scam millions out of online players (Minton).

After players caught on to this online industry, gambling websites have started to take extra

measures to make sure this would never happen again, and every player received their money

back. Scandals like this have been isolated and do not tend to happen often like organized

crime or corrupt systems; in fact, online gambling is safer than gambling in real life. Gambling

may be less regulated than other industries in America, or even less regulated overseas, but

this multi-million dollar industry is well maintenance, well organized, and high-security platform

for online gambling,

Gambling brings in much needed revenue. Nevada was the first state to legalize

gambling and they are the ones who are bringing in triple the revenue of other states like
Michigan, Ohio and even NewYork. States that allow gambling easily benefit from it; they have

much bigger spending funds that can go to what the state needs or what the people want. In a

graph released by the US Jurisdiction it states that Nevada brought in around 9.7B in 2017 will

Pennsylvania who was second to Nevada only brought in 2.7B(Racino Revenues). That is a 7B

dollar difference in just legalizing all the various ways to gamble. This money that comes in goes

to stuff that benefits the state if Nevada feels they don't need to fund anything the money goes

to things like education and state parks. In 2008 Price water estimated that if we begin and

some forms of online gambling that is enough to bring in around 5B a year in new tax revenue.

Slough gambling seems like a much needed thing some people say its bad and causes

additions. Gambling can cause addiction though in 2015 an estimated 2.5million adults have a

gambling problem. Of patients diagnosed with a gambling disorder, 73.2 percent also had an

alcohol use disorder, half had a mood disorder, and 60.8 percent were identified as having a

personality disorder. Suicide and suicidal ideation are major risks linked to gambling disorders,

as are poor health and reliance on costly medical services. Harvard studies show that teenagers

are 3-4 times more likely to become addicted than the older population because they have

24-hour access to the internet. this is the biggest concern because they can't go walk-in casinos

so they go online they cant go in date legally so they do it online illegally. This ever growing

population of young gambliners is bad because only one-tenth of people with gambling

problems will seek treatment, often as the result of financial struggles or when seeking

treatment for a mental health condition.

Gambling is a ever growing industry it is a part of our society that needs to be regulated

in order to be safe it brings in revenue and helps grow struggling cities. Gambling is regulated

and safe and should be the gambler’s choice not the states.
