Architecture

Tanghalang Pambansa
On the main lobby, three large Capiz-shell chandeliers hang from the third floor ceiling, each
symbolizing the three main geographical divisions of the Philippines: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
This building was made to symbolizes the trust for the Filipinos for preserving and promoting
Philippine culture.
Magallanes Church
The church symbolizes hope and rebirth that should serve as inspirations in the lives of others
to rise up and be better. The roof was burned then rebuilt it with the thirteen arches by Architect
Leandro Locsin, which gives the meaning “a tragedy into grace.” The roof thirteen arches symbolizes
Jesus as the top arch and His twelve apostles represents the lower twelve.
Paintings

Ang Kiukok
Ang Kiukok, an ethnic Chinese painter who studied under Vincente Manansala. He was
named by his father, Kiukok, which means “save the country”. All his paintings symbolizes disturbing
subjects, as he once said, "Why not? Open your eyes. Look around you. So much anger, sorrow,
ugliness. And also madness.” He uses abstract geometric style, while his meanings are as if the
reality, full of sorrows, angser, ugliness and madness.
Banta Artist Initiative
It symbolizes the way how Filipino lives and how farming become part of the culture. This
painting show how hardworking Filipinos are and how they help economy and culture to emprove. By
looking at the painthing it tells me that we don’t need rice from other country to import inside the
Philippines because once imported rice sell in the market, Philippine rice will need to compate to
inported rice.
Sculpture

Siyam na Diwata ng Sining

Base in the name of the of the Art sculpture “Siyam na Diwata ng sining” it symbolized the
different kinds of arts, which are the architecture, dance, film, literature, music, painting,
photography, sculpture, and theater. For me it is also symbolized how the artist is devoted to his
work as an artist. This sculpture made us realized how important arts are and how this art help us to
survive not only us but also to our ancestors.
Sarimanok
Sarimanok is one of the legendary birds in Marano. For me Sarimanok symbolized the
culture of the Maranao tribes and the fish that Sarimanok is holding shows how did Maranao tribe
survive. Sarimanok also symbolized the creativity and wide imagination of Maranao tribes in term
of arts.

Vamos a Belen! Series

Vamos a Belen! Series symbolized Philippine dance culture featuring dances from our
indegenous people. But not only dances are being promoted but also our kind of cloths and the
unique design. Another thing is this dances symbolized indegenous ritual because we all know that
they use dances for their ritual for devoting to their saints.
Journey on a Galleon
Journey on a Galleon symbolizes the history of Manila through dance music and historical
tableaux and how Filipino develop their culture as yesr goes by.
