TORX® E8 Used for removing and installing the stud bolts of the EGR control valve.
EMISSION CONTROL (AUX. EMISSION CONTROL DEVICES)(H4DOTC DIESEL) > EGR Control Valve
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
2. Remove the collector cover.
3. Remove the EGR cooler.
4. Disconnect the engine coolant hose.
(A) 12 mm (0.47 in) (B) 4 — 6 mm (0.16 — 0.24 in) (C) 3 — 5 mm (0.12 — 0.20 in)
1. FUNCTION CHECK
1. Connect the Subaru Select Monitor to the vehicle.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON. (engine OFF)
3. Perform “EGR Valve Control” of “System Operation Check Mode”.
4. When set values have been changed, check operation for the set values of the EGR valve opening angle.

REMOVAL
1. Set the vehicle on a lift.
2. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
3. Lift up the vehicle.
4. Drain engine coolant.
5. Remove the exhaust manifold (LH).
6. Remove the EGR cooler bolts.
10. Disconnect the engine harness and remove the harness bracket.

Tightening torque:
6.4 N·m (0.7 kgf-m, 4.7 ft-lb)
