SIMPLE PAST
The simple past is formed from the past form of the verb (regular or irregular). As shown in the following
examples.
REGULAR VERBS

For regular verbs as the verb –work – we just add a suffix –ed at the end of the
base form of the verb to indicate past tense.
For irregular verbs, we don’t add –ed, but we change the word to its form in past.
some examples of irregular verbs are (Begin – Draw – Drink)
1. The Simple Past can be used to refer to actions which occur at a moment in the
past.
2. The Simple Past is also used for expressing finished activities or events.

CONTINUOUS PAST
The simple past is formed from the verb to BE (WAS/WERE) and the verb
ING form.
