LEARNED
Norman King, the first Aeta who graduated from the
University of the Philippines- Manila made history as he
marched on stage wearing a Bahag..
This picture depicted how culture is learned. Aetas
Culture are very much different than those in Manila.
However, as culture in not biological, he leared to ADAPT
and to LEARN a culture much different from where he
grew up in. He underwent what is called enculturation to
fit into a new environment. Nonetheless, he did it and
soared with flying colors.
SHARED
We are all social beings, in one way or other, even in the
littlest of things, we impart our culture to one another,
We take religious missionaries for example. They travel
the lengths of the world, to far-flung area to share their
culture, their faith, teaching their ways. In turn, people in
these areas also share a part of them, their way of living,
beliefs and values. And in that process we see a contrast
in our belief systems, our mentality, but that is not
something to make fun of, it is a way of learning and
discovering.

INTEGRATED
When I think about integration of culture, I think about
our modern day heroes, the OFWs. For culture to be
integrated, one must learn various parts of the culture
and relate it to others as well. Our nurses for example,
those who work abroad, they must possess holistic care.
For them to be able to that properly in a country far from
theirs, they interconnect this cultures, capturing the
beauty of each, to form nurturing attitude towards their
clients and their patients.
DYNAMIC
Just like a river’s water, our culture does not remain
stagnant. Our culture flows with different factors that
influences its flow, but that does not mean nothing is
retained. As that water reaches up to the ocean, there
we can find a gathering, a collection of different cultures
in harmony. Living as one, forming a vast presentation of
different cultures.
