My first year of written communications showed me first hand that english subjects are a
lot more difficult than reading subjects in high school. This written communication course
showed me that there is a whole lot more to the reading and writing subject than just reading and
writing. This course showed me your mental and thought process played a huge role in the
development and pieces of you writing when being required to write on your own. What I mean
by this is most of the time in high school your writing is based on a reading you may have read
or a movie you watched while in class. The prompts are simple and don't require too much
thought to begin. They may be asking you to write about a character or some point of the plot
within the story, simple writing tasks that only require a simple writing piece. Witten
communications 101 changed all of that for me and helped me understand the more mental
aspect of writing, how to take my time with the article and actually read it out piece by piece, or
how to break down the prompt and little better and understand everything that the prompt is
asking of me.
Now although my future career doesn't have much to do with writing being that i am an
aviation major i do thing that this causes me to have better communication between myself and
another individual which is something that will be required of me for my major. Three are some
things that I do still struggle with as a writer. For example, from time to time I will have
problems with understanding the prompts given to me at times but it is something that I am

definitely getting better at. I may also have the tendency to make minor jump arounds from time
to time in my writing pieces and I do understand that that is something that can throw off the
writing piece for some and is definitely something I'm trying very hard to work on and continue
to make progress with. I will say that this course also taught me not to procrastinate with writing,
and to get started as soon as possible. The truth be told this way really the only thing that I went
poorly when it came to me and this course. These writings are meant to take time to be as good
as possible and not to be rushed out. The best work takes time. I really experienced this with the
second writing that we had to write. I did not think that writing about this singular word would
be so complicated. The first problem was finding a word and making sure that the word I chose
made sense. The second part that made this so hard was actually writing about the word itself
and following the prompt. If I started this essay as early as I started the first essay I would have
Moving on to the things that went well with this course because there were more good
than basses and the ability to freely in some ways express myself when writing. Argumentative
essays and personal narratives were always some of my favorite pieces to write simply because
they allowed the writer to express so much about themselves or give their point of view on a
specific topic, for example the first paper that we wrote in this course was an easy and fun paper
for me simply because it was a paper about me. Overall Written Communications 101 was
definitely a great learning experience for me and I'm sure for many other students. It showed me
that in college and when you graduate college that any future writing you may do requires a lot
more mental and time than someone might realize. I do believe that this course prepared me for
written communications 102 and should make my experience within that class a lot more easy.
Overall my main takeaways from this year's course is take your time with these writings. Start as

early as possible so that you aren't rushing and actually sit down and take the time to really think
about the prompt and what it's asking and think about what you want to talk/write about within
