Human Body: The Digestive and Excretory system

The Digestive System: Human beings take food through mouth and digest it in specific organs for
digestion. The undigested food is defecated. P
The food we take process through a specific canal which beings with cavity and ends at the anus. a
This canal is called alimentary canal. g
Digestion: The process of breaking down of food into simpler form is called digestion. e
The main organs of digestive system of our body are: mouth,oesophagus(food pipe),stomach,small |
intestine,large intestine,liver,pancreas,gall bladder and anus. 1
Functions:
1. Mouth: -The process of digestion starts in our mouth . saliva converts starch into sugar or
also softens the food.
2. Food pipe(oesophagus):-It helps to pass swallowed food to the stomach.
3. Stomach:- The stomach produces digestive juices and enzymes that helps to digest proteins.
4. Liver:-It is the largest organ of our body .Bile juices present in the liver helps to digest fats.
5. Pancreas:-It secretes pancreatic juice that help in digestion of protein,carbohydrates and
fats.
6. Small intestine:-It helps in complete digestion of nutrients.
7. Large intestine:-It reabsorbs water and carries it to the Kidneys and helps to eliminate
undigested food and fibre.
Tips for proper digestion
1. Have a balanced diet.
2. Chew food properly.
3. Drink plenty of water.
4. Do not overeat.
Excretory System: - It consists of pair of Kidneys ,pair of water ,Urethra and Urinary bladder.
Functions of organs of Excretory system :-
1. Kidneys :- It filter the blood and form urine.
2. Ureters:-carry urine from Kidneys to urinary bladder.
3. Urinary bladder:- It collects and store the urine.
4. Urethra:-It releases the urine out of the body.
