REQUIREMENTS :
Objective: Create a radial design using Textured
Watercolor and simple shapes with a chosen color
scheme. Add mixed media over top.

You must include the following:

A. Cut out shapes in 4s or 8s to add to the

mandala.

B. You must choose a color scheme:

Monochromatic, Analogous, or Complementary

C. You must use at least 5 different papers. (3

must be watercolor textures)

D. You must have at least 6 different shapes

E. Be sure you have created an interesting, yet MATERIALS NEEDED:

Criteria 1 – Design/ Composition: Successful overall composition. Student filled the space
using overlapping shapes. Shapes are used in either 4s or 8s and spread with radial balance 10 9–8 7 6 or less
from the central point.
Criteria 2 – Watercolor Textures/ Color scheme: Students utilized a variety of papers painted
with watercolor textures like salt, rubbing alcohol, or plastic wrap. All papers used were in a 10 9–8 7 6 or less
successful chosen color scheme.
Criteria 3 – Overlapping collage/ shapes – Students used a series of at least 6 different
repeated shapes ringed around the center of the mandala. Shapes are cut evenly to match the 10 9–8 7 6 or less
corresponding ones. Overlapping collage was added for emphasis.
Criteria 4 – Mixed Media additions—Students added colored pencil, pen, or marker over top to
10 9–8 7 6 or less
add values, patterns, and to finish the mandala. Most of the negative space is covered.
Criteria 5 – Effort: took time to develop idea & complete project? (Didn’t rush.) Good use of
