Intervention Program

Title: YOUTHnited Voices

Rationale: A program that caters to the mental health needs of the youth and the community.

This program trains and educates the youth sector in the community setting on the scope

of mental health and how to maintain resilience when coping with life stressors. This

program also caters the well- being needs of the youth thus empowering them to create

and become agents of change in their community. Trained youths will then be the

facilitators to educate the community.

Objectives:

 Educate the youth sector in the community to the scope of mental health.

 Educate and train the youth based on how they socially represent mental health.

 Eradicate the social stigma that the youth and the community associates with

mental health.

 Train the youth sector on basic Psychological First Aid (PFA).

 Identify youths that has the potential to become PFA volunteers.

 Create a positive relationship with the community for better understanding and

dissemination of information about mental health.

 Let the youth sector take charge on the activities for the community mental health

and guide them in implementing the planned activities.

 Create a harmonious community that understands the stand of the youth sector in

relation to mental health.


 Create a safe space for the youth sector where they can unwind and freely address

their mental health concerns in a positive and productive way.

 Provide a long- term program in the community setting for spreading awareness,

eradicating stigma, promoting resilience, and empowering the youth to participate

in the betterment of their respective communities.

RUBRIC
This section tackles the basic component of the program. Through this components the
social representation of mental health in the youth sector. In the later part of this section, the
nature of the program and goals will be further discussed.
PURPOSE

THE TARGET AUDIENCE OF THIS
PROGRAM IS THE YOUTH SECTOR. THE
TARGET AUDIENCE YOUTH SECTOR IN THIS PROGRAM
CONSIDERS INDIVIDUALS THAT HAS
AN AGE OF 15-25 YEARS OLD.
TRAINED INDIVIDUALS FROM THE
FIELD OF PSYCHOLOGY WILL BE USED
AS FACILITATORS TO TRAIN THE
FACILITATORS YOUTH IN BASIC PSYCHOLOGICAL
FIRST AID AND BASIC MENTAL
HEALTH CONCEPTS THAT CONCERNS
THE SOCIAL REPRESENTATIONS OF
MENTAL HEALTH IN THE YOUTH
SECTOR.
PROVIDE THE TARGET AUDIENCE
MATERIALS
WITH INFORGRAPHICS THAT TACKLES
BASIC CONCEPTS ABOUT MENTAL
HEALTH, RESILIENCE, AND CLARIFIES
MISCONCEPTIONS ON MENTAL
HEALTH TO RAISE AWARENESS AND
MINIMIZE, IF NOT ERADICATE, THE
STIGMA ON MENTAL HEALTH.
YOUTHS THAT WILL VOLUNTEER
WILL BE TRAINED IN ORDER TO
BECOME ONE OF THE FACILITATORS
IN THE PROGRAM. THESE TRAINED

YOUTHS WILL BE THE POINT PERSONS
THAT WILL MAINTAIN AND SPREAD
AWARENESS ON MENTAL HEALTH IN
THE COMMUNITY/ BRGY. SETTING.
THERE WILL BE A MONTHLY REPORT
OF CASES OF MENTAL HEALTH
PROBLEMS PRESENT IN THE
COMMUNITY AND PROGRESS OF
MONITORING AWARENESS MENTAL HEALTH IN THE
COMMUNITY. MONITORING IS USED
TO TRACK THE PROGRESS OF THE
COMMUNITY THUS, ENSURING THE
LONG- TERM EFFECT OF THE
PROGRAM.

Introductory Stage:
9:00 A. M Introducing the audience to the concept of mental health.
- Attendance and consent will be released then will be gathered by the
assigned person.
Fact Stage:
Providing the audience of the basic facts about mental health.

The focus is on the facts that are provided by mental health.

Tackling issues that concerns mental health such as stigma, misconceptions and
who are the professionals involved in mental health problem treatment.

Reaction Stage:
The physical and cognitive functioning of the audience will be explored.
The concept of resilience and positive thinking will be introduced to the audience.
- Counselors should ask questions regarding their reaction at times of
difficult situation.
- The counselor should encourage the audience to discuss what is going on
in their community and in their relationships with parents, peer, and
people in the community.

Learning Stage: The audience will be assisted in learning new coping skills to
deal with daily stressors.
- The counselor will assume the responsibility of teaching the survivors
about their typical stress response reactions.
- Counselors should be alert to danger signals in order to prevent
destructive outcomes and to help audience to gain equilibrium.
( This will serve as a primary prevention component for future self- defeating or
self- destructive behavior through identifying the normal responses in a secure,
therapeutic environment with a caring, trusted adult)

Closure Stage: this will wrap- up loose ends, answer outstanding questions and
provide final assurances
- The audience should be made aware that the closure is taking place. No
new issues should be introduced or discussed in this process.
- The group will then be instructed to proceed in another room for
Psychological First Aid Orientation.

Psychological First Aid Orientation: The survivors will be oriented on handling


a situation such as suicide prevention.
1:00 P. M - The counselor/ speaker will teach the survivors how to provide immediate
emotional and informational support.
- The counselor/ speaker will provide information how and where to get
help, if desired.

Learning Outcomes:

After the program, the audience should be able to identify their strength and weaknesses that
they can use to deal with daily stressors in life.

The audience will be able to learn basic facts about mental health.

The audience will be able to understand and identify the misconceptions about mental health.

The audience will be enlightened to their possible involvement in the community.

The audience should acquire knowledge on Psychological First Aid and be able to become
mental health advocates in the community.
