xploding into the hip hop
scene armed with a duffle bag
filled with young blood, sweat
from saturating the streets
with good music, and without
time to cry, RMG (Respect
My Grind) is about to beast
the Atlanta indie market,
and they’re telling their haters bye. This hip
hop powerhouse, led by its CEO K, is hell
bent on getting the very best of young talent
and pushing them until the bend or break. Its
present lineup includes Bay formerly known
as Baby DC, Kelz Holaday who went from to
negotiations with Laface to working at 107.9,
P Stonez who was formerly signed with Mr.
ColliPark, Rich Graham who has been featured
on MTV, and Tez McClain who sprung into
the scene on MTV 2’s Sucker Free freestyle
segment.
Bay: The Future Face of Hip Hop
After a childhood spent rapping with Too Short,
being on tour with Monica, and being labeled
as a Nickelodeon celeb, Bay has no choice
but to drop the “B” and spit the utterances of
a man who has soaked up the complexities of
the music business on some Spongebob ish,
with a delivery that rides the beat harder than
Kenan & Kel’s fingers rode the ridges of orange
soda bottles.
Young Bay began his professional career at
age 5, but has been rapping since he was in
pampers. His father P.O. was Too Short’s
bodyguard, so he grew up surrounded by

the business. With this type of background,
it’s no surprise that by the time he was 12
years old, he was signed with Jive. Young
Bay recalls his days with Jive, “I had to be like
10 when that happened, [because] I’d been
traveling with Short since I was 7 years old, and
all of that probably came to a pause when I did
the deal with Jive cause they wanted to make
me more marketable. They’d keep me with the
Nickelodeon crowd. I did the Nickelodeon tour,
the All that Music and More tour.” With the
album “School Daze” Young Bay found himself
working with Too Short, Imajin, Mack 10, Ant
Banks, Snoop Dogg, Kid Kapri, E-40, Jazze
Phae, Lil Jon, and Ice Cube. However, after
a few misunderstandings and conflicts of
interest, he finally discovered what school
days were like when his playground, once
filled with rappers, tours, and shows,
became a park packed with plastic sliding
boards and snotty-nosed kids.
This change of events only added fuel
to the fire. He never stopped, and with
his deal with RMG, we are sure to see
more of the heat Baby DC brought in
the 90’s. But don’t expect more of
the same. His music goes from the
trap and rapping from the trenches,
to witty wordplay that gets the ladies
excited enough to see if Baby DC
has really grown up. Bay
