Goals:
This course is intended to cover theory and techniques of modelling and dynamic analysis of
rotor-bearing systems. The course emphasises the dynamic modelling considerations of rotors
and their relevance to practical problems in rotating machinery.

Attendance
Attendance will be checked at the beginning of each lecture. Late coming is strictly not
allowed as this disturbs students and instructor. Excuses for absence should be approved
by the Deanship of student affairs and submitted to the instructor within one week
following the last day of absence. University regulations will be followed for students
exceeding the maximum number of unexcused absences.

Homework Assignments
All homework problems assigned during a given week are due in class on the following
Tuesday unless otherwise stated. LATE home works will not be accepted.

Quizzes
Two quizzes will be scheduled during the semester. No make-up quizzes will be
conducted.

Major Exams
A midterm exam will be scheduled during the semester.

Term Project
A term project will be assigned in the second week of the semester. Normally involves
modelling and numerical simulation of a rotor-bearing system. A typewritten project
report and PowerPoint oral presentation are due in classroom by December 26, 2017.
