Astral 101

This lesson we will be going over Astral. This includes the Astral Realm/Plane, Astral
Projection, Astral Travel, and everything that falls under those categories. I will not be covering
how to Astral Project, as I believe that is a very advanced practice and is not for beginners. Both
Rana and I have said before that the tail end of this class is something we are being careful with
since these are not beginner friendly practices. Meditation, Dream Work, and Lucid Dreaming
are all things I recommend learning and practicing before you even touch the Astral.
The Astral is a blanket term that I have decided to use for this lesson. It is in no way the
“official term” for this knowledge. This whole lesson will be my experiences, things I’ve learned
through another practitioner, and research I have done over the years I’ve practiced. I did do
some extra research and I will link that in the bottom of this page. But this will consist of mostly
learned experiences.
☆My Experience☆
In my practice I did not go looking for Astral, it found me. This is something I want to be
very clear on. In no way did I go jump in the Astral when I was a beginner. I was accidentally
projecting and I was lucky enough to have someone in my life who knew what they were doing
and helped me learn. So yes, it is possible to accidentally project or find yourself in the astral
without realizing it. That also is one of the reasons I think educating yourself well before you try
it is so important. The Astral Realm is a very rewarding but also dangerous place. It is not a
place to just “wing it” or jump in recklessly before you know what you are doing. Some of this is
trial and error; I will admit. Most of that is the actual part of projecting. But if you do it correctly,
it can be a very easy and rewarding experience that will further your craft and spirituality to great
heights in many different ways.
There is a lot of information on Astral and it is something that is not easy to find. In this
lesson I used a lot of wording that is like “some believe” or “this may be true” because there is so
much speculation on some of these terms. Again I am basing this on my experience and my
research, but I encourage you all to do your own research as well! In this lesson I tried my best to
keep it simple but...as you can see there is a lot.
☆What is Astral?☆
 Astral Plane - The ethereal plane, or realm, is a different plane of existence from ours.
This is the realm our Astral Body projects to.
Also called the realm of illusions. This realm is many things and breaks all concepts of
physics and how we see our world. Many see this as a dimension parallel to our own, but it
encompasses a lot more in my opinion and experience.
One part of the astral realm is like a layer on top of our Physical Realm. This is where
most people project to during Out of Body Experiences, or OBEs. Everything looks the same as
the physical and you can go anywhere you choose to. The catch is usually you can fly,
sometimes teleport and sometimes you can even walk through walls. I personally rarely project
to this version.
The term also may encompass the other higher and lower realms as well, not just our
physical. These can be fantastical worlds that are not like our physical world. Or it may look like
it but you cannot reach these places in the physical. This is where I usually project to. I’ve seen
forests, beaches, palaces, towns, you name it. I have met my spirit guides and other astral beings
here.
Many believe this is the realm that you pass through after death, before the reincarnation
cycle starts anew. This is something I believe very heavily in with my work with Past Lives. You
can meet past loved ones here, and other beings like deities, angels, spiritual guides, and other
astral beings.
Astral Projection - The act of projecting your spiritual body, or astral body, out of the
physical one to other places, worlds or times through the Astral Realm or the subconscious. You
retain all the information you received or experienced during these sessions. Also called an Out
of Body Experience, or OBE.
Astral Travel - Very similar to Astral Projection. Some use the terms interchangeably,
but in my opinion I feel as if Astral Travel is specifically traveling to places that are also located
here on the physical plane.
Astral Body - The body that projects from the physical body and out into the astral
realms. This is a spiritual body that is a part of you just like your physical body. Some say it is
attached to your body by a silver cord.
Silver Cord - A cord that is attaching your astral body to your physical body. Some
believe that if this cord is cut, then your connection to the physical body is severed as well. I
have heard both that this is true and that it is not. I believe that if you are protecting yourself this
should not be an issue that you have to worry about. See Protections in Lesson 2.
**This is a very real warning and I will not sugar coat this. If you do not put up
protections during your time in the astral, then it can be incredibly dangerous and you can attract
negative entities and honestly it's going to be harder to get rid of those kinds of negative beings
than others. The astral is very real and there is a chance you can die if you do not do this
correctly. I will say it many times, if done properly and with respect and protection this can be
one of the most rewarding experiences you have ever done. But it does come with incredible
risk.**
☆Why Astral?☆
Why is Astral work such a popular practice and what can it help me with? Well for
starters it is popular mostly because people romanticize it. Just like with a lot of advanced
witchcraft, movies, tv shows and books have all made this to be a pretty trip with no real
consequences. Good or bad. But the benefits in real witchcraft though can be incredible.
Teachers and Guides - The Astral can be the perfect place to talk to ancestors, guides,
spiritual teachers, angels, and other spiritual beings as if you are conversing on the physical
plane. I know of a few advanced practitioners who use this to contact their deities.
Past Lives - This is a very common way to look at your past lives, as in the Astral time is
not linear. You can access your subconscious as well as the past with ease.
Remote Viewing - The act of going to a specific place that is also located in the physical
realm and seeing and/or hearing what is on the physical plane by astral travel. This is a concept
that I have never done, but some have done it and have been incredibly accurate.
Akashic Records - This is a place and/or concept located in the Astral Realm. This is a
detailed record of all the information on all each individual soul in the universe. Both past,
present, future and beyond. It can be very hard to access these records, especially if the Universe
knows you are not ready.
And much, much more….
The concept of Astral as a whole is a very detailed, unsure topic and it is not for the faint
of heart nor the reckless. I am not an expert on the Astral and it dives into many occult and
cultural practices that I am still learning. It has connections to the chakra system, the Kabbalah,
some Christian beliefs, and so much more. I highly recommend you all dive deep when
researching this topic and ask for experiences from many other practitioners. Each of their
journeys is going to be different, including your own. I will say it yet again...this is not a
beginner practice. Do not try this before you have a solid hold on your practice and have
proficient experience in not only the basics but also more advanced practices. This is to go
deeper when you have exhausted your physical resources. Please listen to other practitioners,
your deities and guides, and the Universe on when you should start this journey. To be honest I
still am frustrated it got thrown at me at such an early time in my craft. I had so much to learn
back then and instead I was learning about an advanced practice that I had to try to control. It is
not a fantasy world that you can jump into and live in. It is just as dangerous and scary as this
world and even more so. But also it is more incredible and amazing than this world as well.
Both sides of the coin are in play when you dive into this world.
