Women‘s Throw ball Tournament Rules

1. SERVICE ZONE: The service zone is behind the end line and
between the extension of the sidelines.

2. COMPOSITION: Five-person: 5 players on the court per team. The


team must compose of 5 Women. [+2 substitutes (optional)].

3. SCORING SYSTEM
o TO WIN A MATCH: Matches consist of a best of 3 sets. A team wins
a match by winning two sets. In the case of a 1-1 tie, the
deciding set (the 3rd)is played to 15 points with a minimum lead
of 2 points.
o TO WIN A SET: A set (except the deciding, 3rd set) is won by the
team which first scores 25 points with a minimum lead of two
points. In the case of a 24-24 tie, play is continued until a two-
point lead is achieved (26-24; 27-25; ?).
o TO WIN A POINT & RALLY: Whenever a team fails to serve or return
the ball, or commits any other fault, the opposing team wins the
rally and a point. If the serving team wins a rally, it scores a
point and continues to serve. If the receiving team wins a rally,
it scores a point and it must serve next.

4. CATCHING AND THROWING THE BALL


1. Players can catch the ball with both the hands.
2. No Passing of the ball. ie: The one who catches the ball has to
throw the ball over the net.
3. Its a valid catch if during catching the ball, the ball touches
any part of the body and the catcher still manages to catch the
ball.
4. During a catch, only one persons contact with the ball is
allowed.
5. Players can throw the ball with one or both the hands.
6. Players are allowed to jump and throw the ball.
7. The players have to throw the ball from the same position they
caught the ball (i.e. no turn/rotation). A player cannot take more
than one step when throwing the ball.
8. A player can throw the ball either way ? under arm or over arm.

5. PLAYING THE BALL


o TEAM CONTACTS: Each team is entitled to a maximum of one
(person) contact to return the ball to the opponents. Blocking is
not allowed.
o CHARACTERISTICS OF CONTACT: A player may touch the ball with any
part of the body. A player may have successive contacts with the
ball during a single attempt to make the team's first contact with
the ball, provided that the fingers are not used to direct the
ball.

6. PENETRATION INTO OPPONENT'S PLAYING AREA: Players may partially


or completely cross the center line below the net or outside the
poles, either before, during or after a legal play of the ball,
provided that this does not interfere with the opponent's play.
Incidental contact with an opponent is ignored, unless such
contact interferes with the opponent's opportunity to play the
ball. While opposing players are not required to avoid the ball or
the player, they cannot intentionally interfere with any legal
attempt to play the ball on their court. If a player crosses the
center line and interferes with an opponent during the
continuation of a play, it is a fault.

7. CONTACT WITH THE NET: It is a fault for a player or a player's


clothing to touch any part of the net.

8. CHANGE OF COURTS
o After each set, the teams change courts, with the exception of
the deciding set.
o In the deciding set, once a team reaches 8 points, the teams
change courts without delay.
o If the change is not made once the leading team reaches 8
points, it will take place as soon as the error is noticed. The
score at the time that the change is made remains the same.

9. SPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT
o Participants must know the ?Official Throw ball Rules? and abide
by them.
o Participants must accept referees' decisions with sportsmanlike
conduct, without disputing them.
o In case of doubt, clarification may be requested only through
the game captain.
o Participants must refrain from actions or attitudes aimed at
influencing the decisions of the referees or covering up faults
committed by their team.
o Only the captain of a team may talk to the referee or request
substitutions and time-outs.
o Participants must behave respectfully and courteously in the
spirit of FAIR PLAY, not only towards the referees, but also
towards other officials, the opponents, team-mates and spectators.
o Communication between team members during the match is
permitted.

Faults

a) A player touches the net

b) A player crosses the center line or touches the opposite field


with his hand(s)

c) Playing with any part of body below the waist

d) A defender (2nd row) blocks at the net

e) A player touches the ball twice in a row (except after a block)

f) The ball touches the ground or any other object

g) A team plays the ball 4 or more times


j) Bad service (the ball passes under the net or ends outside the
opposite field)

l) More than 6 players in the field

m) The referee is not notified about the incoming or outgoing


player

n) The team does not follow the service order (proper rotation)

o) Improper or unfair behavior of any team member
