ERRATA TO THE CANDIDATE’S MANUAL

Promulgated: 11 February 2011

WHEREAS, according to the 2010 Electoral Code, stipulated in Article VI, Section 2:

Regulations concerning the allowed type and quantity of materials, as well as any
additional regulations concerning campaigning shall be issued by the COMELEC
through a resolution at least three (3) school days before the start of the campaign
period. In the event that the COMELEC does not issue a resolution, the previous
resolution shall take effect. Any violation of these regulations shall be considered a
violation of the Electoral Code.

WHEREAS, the Candidate’s Manual, released three school days before the start of the
campaign period, contains the regulations concerning the allowed type and quantity of
materials, as well as any additional regulations concerning campaigning.

WHEREAS, the Candidate’s Manual failed to distinguish an independent candidate from


an individual candidate, as well as clearly explain the guidelines for political parties and
coalitions.

WHEREAS, the COMELEC deems the current tarpaulin and lamppost reservation system
impractical for the remainder of the campaign period.

NOW THEREFORE, pursuant to the powers vested in it by the 2005 Constitution of the
Undergraduate Students of the Ateneo de Manila and the Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral ng
mga Paaralang Loyola ng Ateneo de Manila Electoral Code ratified on July 26, 2010, the
Ateneo Commission on Elections RESOLVED, as it hereby RESOLVES, to promulgate the
following changes in the tarpaulin lamppost reservation system:

1. Tarpaulins may only be hung from the day the injunction is lifted until February 16.
2. All previous reservations for lampposts will be cancelled.
3. Reservations for lamppost will begin as soon as the injunction is lifted.
4. The process of lamppost reservation will follow the process stated in MEMO10
promulgated February 8, 2011 except for the number of allowable tarpaulins.
5. The tarpaulin limit for individual candidates stated in the Candidate’s Manual.
6. Independent Candidates for Top 4 positions may hang one (1) tarpaulin instead of
two (2).
7. Independent Candidates for School Chair, School Secretary-Treasurer, Central Board
Representative, and Executive Officer will no longer be allowed to hang tarpaulins.
8. Candidates running under the banner of a political party or coalition are not allowed
to hang tarpaulins except for the shared tarpaulins hung by their parties/coalitions.
9. The tarpaulin limit for political parties will be two (2).
10. The tarpaulin limit for coalitions will be one (1).
