Maestro Designer’s Variant

Set-up
Two of the applause tiles are not used.
Both critic tiles (positive and negative) are used.
The conductor is placed near the main board.
The money is placed near the main board.
Each player:
Take a personal board.
Take a maestro tile.
Place the maestro on space 10 of your board.
Shuffle the remaining tiles.

Turn Summary
You may place musician tiles on the main board.
You MUST draw tiles.

Placing Musicians
You may only play in one row per turn.
Each tile must match the instrument on that board space.
Maestros:
The first tile played in a row must be a maestro.
The maestro may be placed on any instrument.
Only one maestro per row.
Playable Musicians:
Any tiles from your personal board.
If an opponent’s board is full, one tile from spaces 6 – 10 of that board.
Any tiles from spaces 1 – 5 of opponents’ boards.
Take points for each tile you just placed.
If you finished the row, take the conductor.

Scoring Musician Tiles


If you finished a row, 10 each.
Neither critic has been drawn
Otherwise, 5 each.
If you finished a row, 10 each.
The positive critic was the last critic drawn
Otherwise, 5 each.
If you finished a row, 5 each.
The negative critic was the last critic drawn
Otherwise, no score.

Drawing tiles
If you have the conductor, take 10 points.
Declare how many you will draw: 1, 2, or 3.
No more than the number of empty spaces on your board.
After drawing each tile:
If a musician, place it on an empty space on your board.
If applause or a critic, place it on the bottom strip of the main board.

End of Game
When either of these conditions is met:
The applause strip is full.
A player must draw tiles but cannot because his board is full.
Final Score:
Count your points.
For each musician on your personal board, subtract its space number.
Highest total wins.
