From the shape and position of the brake and clutch
levers to the manner in which the engine produces

VTX and VT cruisers use high-tech liquid-cooled V-twin
engines that look and sound like big twins should, but
with vibration carefully controlled so that you feel those
big power pulses at work, yet they don’t intrude on
comfort. The combustion chambers feature two intake
valves and a single, larger exhaust valve to achieve
20 percent greater valve area than a similarly sized two-
valve engine. The result? Increased torque at low rpm for
smooth, satisfying acceleration in any gear. Plus, the use
of two sparkplugs in each cylinder further contributes
to efficient, cleaner combustion and high power output
at lower engine speeds — ideal for the sort of relaxed
cruising that makes a motorcycle ride on a sunny
afternoon so much fun.

EFFICIENT COMBUSTION
For both strong performance and crisp, clean
operation, an engine must achieve efficient
combustion. This often leads to the use of
four valves per cylinder in sport bikes, but
cruisers operating at lower rpm call for a
different approach. That’s why the combustion
chambers in Honda VTX and VT engines
feature innovative three-valve cylinder heads,
using two intake valves and a single, larger
exhaust valve. This promotes improved
combustion at lower revs for excellent throttle
response when you’re accelerating or just
cruising, plus strong power at higher rpm. The
best of both worlds.
SMOOTH PERFORMANCE
Part of the pleasure of riding a big-twin
cruiser is feeling that powerful engine at
work, but engine vibration left uncontrolled
can produce an uncomfortable ride.
Honda VTXs employ an advanced anti-
vibration system that uses dual internal
