Reflective Essay

2020 has been a year that we will always remember. 2020 came to change the way of living

forever. For the last 20 years, we have had so much technology that we thought we were

invincible. We thought that we were untouchable. Then Covid 19 came, and everything changed.

All the normal and the possible started becoming impossible. Fear entered in our lives. However,

life still needed to continue and we had to adjust to a new reality or a new way of living. Since

life needed to continue I had to enroll in college and all the classes needed to be on line. I was

not that great in computers, but in this class I learned how to create a website and how to do a

presentation online. Even though I still have so much room to learn and to improve, I also know

that this class has been a cornerstone for me to a new way of learning and communicating with

others. This of course was for sure a great challenge for me because it was all new for me. In the

meantime, when I started talking with my classmates in this English class, I realized that this

new way of living was not just for me, it also was students, it also was a challenge for the

professors as well because they have to deal with virtual teaching as well. Our professor did the

best she could to teach us this class. I personally learned so much from my classmates. I was

scared because I thought I was the only one struggling this semester, but I realized that we were

all dealing with this new way of learning. I also have learned so much from each assignment. In

every essay I did, I realized how much I need to improve in my writing and my thinking.

Something that made me reflect was when I did the visual assignment, I learned that sighs,

photos, pictures etc. can give us more information that we think. It was great when my

classmates found different meanings in each visual we put in our presentations. In the meantime,

I learned how to find the right sources, how to put an essay together and about my passion. I

knew I liked soccer, but in this class I realized how my passion about soccer could also help

other people. I was also amazed how my classmates came up with a great passion project. What I

like about their projects was that they were thinking about making a difference in others. I

learned that we can use our passions to do something special to other people, especially

vulnerable populations such as the homeless and minorities.

In conclusion, I want to give thanks to all my classmates and also to professor Hugetz who

stayed with us until the end. Knowing that everyone was having a hard year, Professor Hugetz

always showed us strength and she encouraged us to keep pushing until the end. College is

always a challenge for every student. Although college is also the right path to success.
