a formal essay.
Material/equipment:
Students must have a pencil/pen, paper, handouts: Writing a Paragraph: The seven-step solution,
Write the First draft, Write the Final, YouTube video, How to Write a Good Paragraph,
classroom board, and internet access for extra information for the students
Do first: Write down the warm up in the classroom board; Freewriting: Think and write down a
topic that you like and write down any ideas that you have about your topic in a paper sheet. (5
minutes)
Mini-lesson: Review ideas from the warm up; ask students to lift their hand if they want to read
and give a small presentation of the topic, they chose on their warm up (In case no one lifts his
hand pick two students randomly). Upon the presentations of the student(s), show the next
Paragraph). After that begin with an explanation reinforcing the previously seen and mentioned
in the video, mention why the narrowing of a topic is important to build a paragraph, and how is

a paragraph consolidated. After the explanation ask questions to the students to make sure they
Guided Practice: Hand the next paper to the students: Writing a Paragraph: The seven-step
solution, read the last paper and explain it to students, make sure students are paying attention by
Independent Practice: Hand the main assignment: Write the First draft. Once handed read the
instructions and let the students begin doing their work. During the activity ask students if they
have doubts and in case is there any doubt address it, if students do not ask any questions walk
by the rows of students and check how each one is doing (Do this every time in a while), during
that walk make sure every student is working efficiently but don not over involve on their
work.(45 minutes)
Exit-slip: Stand in the middle of the classroom and ask in general to the classroom if they
understood what a paragraph is about, and what they learned, then make at least two students
answer those questions, after that hand out students the homework: Write the Final copy Edit of
your draft, and explain them what is it about, also remember students that they can check internet

Reflection
On my secondary lesson plan assignment, I was able to achieve different goals. This secondary
lesson is meant to be used in English 11 class, the purpose of it was to teach students how to
make proper paragraphs with simplicity. The lesson is meant for classrooms with mixed kinds of
learnings, because on it I addressed to the three different learnings (Auditory, Visual and
Kinesthetic). Personally, I consider that this lesson is very engaging, because it is meant for the
successfully able to address the necessities of the different students that I might have. Also, on it
I was able to make it simple, so a substitute teacher could give that lesson with no issue. Lastly
one of flaws that it might have, is the fact that it requires the teacher to be very involved with the
student, which might be too complicate for the teacher because he might not be able to address
