Definition of Adverb(ial) of Frequency

Adverb(ial) of Frequency can be defined as an adverb that

describes the frequency or how often something happens.
Types of Adverb (ial) of Frequency
Adverb (ial) of frequency can be divided into two:
Definite : describes the specific time span when an activity is
carried out or an event occurs
Indefinite : it doesn’t describe specifically how often an
activity is carried out or an event occurs.
Examples

Adverb(ial) of  yearly, annually (setiap tahun)

Definite Frequency
 monthly (setiap bulan)
 weekly (setiap minggu)
 daily (setiap hari)
 hourly (setiap jam)
 every second/minute/hour/year (setiap
detik/menit/jam/tahun)
 once (sekali), once a minute/week/month (sekali
semenit/seminggu/sebulan), once every month
(sekali setiap bulan)
 twice (dua kali), twice a day/week/month/year
(dua kali sehari/seminggu/sebulan/setahun)
 three times (tiga kali)

Adverb of Indefinite
 always, constantly (selalu/100%)
Frequency  usually, normally (biasanya/ 90%)
 frequently, regularly
 often (sering)
 sometimes (kadang-kadang/50%)
 occasionally, infrequently, seldom (sekali-
sekali/10-25%)
 rarely, hardly ever (jarang/1-10%)
 never (tidak pernah/ 0%)

Adverb(ial) of frequency position :

1. Before other verbs
Formula : Subject + Adverb of Frequency + verb
Examples : I always get up at 5 a.m in the morning
She usually drinks milk before bed
2. After the verb To Be
Formula : Subject + To Be (is/am/are/was/were) + Adverb of Frequency
Examples : John is usually late to join Math class
I am always thirsty when I first wake up
When a sentence contains more than one verb, place the adverb of frequency before
the main verb
Formula : Subject + Auxiliary Verb + Adverb of Frequency + Main Verb
Example : They have often visited Japan.
3. At the end of the sentence
Adverbs of Frequency can also be placed at the end of a sentence, especially for
Adverb of Definite Frequency and Adverbs that end in -LY.
Examples : My Parents told me I should brush my teeth twice daily.
: We go to Manado at least once annually.
