Ammar Faris:

Tanya je soklan yang korang nak lebih explanation about certain things..

juz jgn tanya soklan yg x releven la and soklan yg dah ader dlm website MARA ker...

So, antara soklan yg releven nak tanya ialah:

1. (paling simple and common) When will MARA release their results?(tambah sket benda cmni) as it will make it easier for me to plan for my
post-secondary studies and for a back up plan.. .

2. Will MARA sponsor me if I want to further my studies for Master and PhD??

3. Do I have to pay MARA if I did not reach certain requirements?

4. How long will I be serving MARA upon completion of my undergraduate studies?? (kalu mcm nak menarik sket)...Can I extend if i'm
interested in continuing to serve MARA...

5. (follow up from Q2) If I want to further my studies for Master and PhD, am I supposed to serve MARA first or I can continue my studies first
and serve MARA after completing my PhD
or Master..

Introduction
Dr. Nur Hafiza that is what people will address me one day. My full name is Nur Hafiza Binti Hasan Ganny. My previous school was
SMKA Maahad Hamidiah, Kajang, Selangor. I am the second of seven in my family. I turn seventeen in last October and becoming eighteen in
this October. My father, Hasan Ganny Hanif Francis is a chief executive officer in Time Quantam Technology Snd. Bhd. and my mother,
Rohayati Binti Mohd. Junid is a teacher in SMKA Maahad Hamidiah. I have a brother which now still doing his foundation course in Malaysia
France Institute and 3 little sisters, two of them in secondary school, one in primary school. Two little brothers, one of them in secondary school
and the other one is in kindergarten.

Education

I studied in SK Subang Jaya from 1997 until 1999 and then, I continue my primary education in Arous al-Bahr international school for
six month in Saudi Arabia. Next, I studied in SK Kajang Utama from 2000 until 2002 and manage to get 5A’s for my UPSR examination. I had
my secondary education in SMKA Maahad Hamidiah from form 1 until form 5. For my PMR examination I got 9A’s while for my SPM
examination, I got 12 1A and 1 2A.

Contribution
I joined several activities held by my school and represented my school in several competition. I am vice president of the netball club and joined
the public speaking society in 2006. I am one of the team who represented the club to the debate competition held in school and managed to get
second place. I also represented the school in ping- pong competition in district level and my team was qualified to the semi-finals. During 2007,
I was the co-editor of the school magazine crew (al- Mustaqim). I am also a librarian prefect that year. I joined the tennis club and the library club
and I was the treasurer for both of the club. I represented the school to the badminton competition in district level and the Gerak Gempur Anti-
Dadah Marathon. Other activities were Biology Quiz and Student Environment Awareness Camp in 2006, Bahasa Malaysia Literature Quiz,
Science National Challenge, Chemistry National Quiz, Physic National Quiz in 2007. My school awarded me with ‘Anugerah Khas
Korurikulum’ for the co-curricular activities I joined and ‘Anugerah Pengetua’ for excellent achievement in academic.

Education plan and future career

I want to be a specialist in obstetrics and gnaecology or a pediatrician. Obstetrician and gynecologist are specialists who deal with
female reproductive organs, pregnancy and childbirth. There are many simple and logical reasons why I and some of us choose to be one. For me,
it is not just because of interest and compassion only but because it is a responsibility. We know that nowadays, there are not enough doctors in
Malaysia as the ratio of doctors to patients are 1:1300. Thus, the occupation as a doctor is always available as the number of population varies
from time to time. In my opinion, I as a Muslim have to fulfill this responsibility to reduce the ratio of doctors to patient and increase the number
of female obstetrician and gynecologist as nowadays, there are quite a number of male obstetricians and gynecologists. Patients may feel
uncomfortable when dealing with male obstetricians and gynecologists because they have to reveal their intimate part of body to them. So, as a
Muslim who is capable, passionate and have the courage to deal with the risk of being obstetrician and gynecologist, I feel it is my responsibility
to be one. Who else if it is not me who should fulfill the responsibility? .Having the courage, strong ambition and compassion in myself puts me
into fulfilling it.
After doing some research on universities and the flow of my future education, I plan to continue my studies in Egypt as an
undergraduate student in medical and have a degree in this field for five years. Before that, I have to attend three month of Arabic language
foundation in INTEC or selected local institute. I will attend to the university that will be offered to me which is determined by the authorities.
Some renowned universities sponsored by JPA and MARA in Egypt are Cairo University, Alexandria University and Mansoura University. Cairo
University is among the best world-rank medical university so, that is my target university. After five years of studying medical, I will have to
work at any government hospitals for at least three years before I can have my Master as a postgraduate student to be a specialist in certain field.

I plan to take Master of obstetrics and gnaecology (MObGyn) in local university for about three to four years. University of Malaya
and Universiti Sains Malaysia are among the best local medical universities which provide further education for medical postgraduate students. I
choose to have my Master in local university as I soon will work for my country so; I will be exposed to the real situation and the kind of patient
that I will soon deal with. Furthermore, our universities do have their own specialty and do become the attraction to the foreign students from the
whole world.

After I got my Master in obstetrics and gnaecology, I plan to work at the hospital where I was born in, SJMC, Subang Jaya Medical
Centre or maybe in any hospital which has insufficient obstetrician and gnaecologist. I plan to save huge amount of money so that one day, I can
open my own medical centre. This may sound too ambitious but we have to set a benchmark so that, when our minds have set a goal, they will
give a powerful effect to our actions. We will really work hard and strive for what we really want. ‘Aim for the moon, if you fall, you will fall
amongst the stars’, this quote shows that we must have a strong ambition so, even though we did not manage to reach it, we are pretty close.

so that's just it.you can see that i wrote UNIVERSITY OF ALEXENDRIA in my list. so, i pretty much get what i requested even though regretted
that i forgot to add JUST which was located in Jordan which is a top-ranking university especially for medic..the reason is because I thought that
MARA did'nt send medical students to Jordan anymore because of the high living cost...huwaa..its ok...I am thankful for what I had achieved
until this point..alhamdulillah...I will do my best!!! huarghhh!!!

essay for mara interview

well, since i passed my interview, i would like to share my essay. supposedly i wait till next year when my juniors
are facing their interview but never mind. :) . omg i cant wait to go to kolej mara banting. cant wait to be labeled as
gedik again, hahahaahaha. ceh. T_T

Before I was born, my parents knew that my name is Arlina Binti Arshad, they had picked that name before my mum even pregnant. My whole
family was hoping for a baby girl because they already raised a tomboyish daughter and three mischievous rascals which were my brothers. On
19th July 1991, I was born at Klinik Shambi, Kuala Lumpur, or my mother called it, the day where God gave them the special gift. Currently, I am
living in Subang Jaya, Selangor.
The real me was portrayed when I joined Mara Junior Science College (MJSC). When I was in my old school, I used to be a quiet girl who
enjoyed reading books, invisible, unknown and only have small circle of friends. Things changed when I entered MJSC. Fortunately, the
activities in MJSC such as language week (Minggu Bahasa) unleashed the real Arlina. After trying out for auditions, I realized that I have a knack
in drama, but I can also be an excellent debater. Starting from that, I joined countless activities that require my skills such as, acting, debating,
writing and many more. A lot of people asked me, why I want to be a doctor instead of any other jobs that require good command in English
language since people see English language as my strength, my answer is simple, “medicine is much more challenging and I love challenge, plus
I get to learn about human, about me”
Therefore, I would really love to continue my study doing International Baccalaureate (IB) in Mara College Banting. I choose IB diploma, not A
level or foundation because The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to
create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Furthermore, IB has more subject and activities, thus it
makes this course even more challenging. Even though there are few institutions offer IB but then, Mara College Banting had produced world’s
best students in IB examination. In addition, their college life style is completely different from other colleges. Mara College Banting does not
only stress on education but they strengthen our faith towards God by encourage the students pray together at surau, and other Islamic activities.
I’m sure there are no other colleges offer these kinds of life style. As for degree, the university that caught my attention is Queen Mary,
University of London.
Of course, after obtaining my degree I will pursue my career by being a hardworking and dedicated paediatric cardiac surgeon as that is my path
that I choose to help people in my own ways, especially kids. I believe by being a doctor, I’ll end up with a job that will make me appreciate life
even more because as a doctor, definitely I’ll encounter a person with no legs, cancer, or blind. Furthermore, I got to learn about our body, the
miracles of science, and the perfection of God’s creation. Thus, it makes me closer to God even more. I will also get a job that more than just a
job.

essay 1
My precious life started when I first opened my eyes to see this beautiful world on 12 August 1991. My parents gave me the best
name ever that suits me until now, Muhammad Daniel Azlan Bin Mahadzir. At that time,I never know that I’m the eldest but as time
goes, I have to accept the fact that I’m the eldest son for my parents, and the eldest grandson for my grandparents.
When I reached the age of 5, one of my aunty succeed to persue her study in pharmacy at King’s College London.
From that precious moment, I said to myself that I can be like her perhaps better. My family is not very loaded, in
fact, we live a simple life that never lack of any necessity. My parents work as a businessmen and owned 4 shop
outlets that sell groceries and other daily needs (in other word, minimarket). They never complete their study until
graduate, so, it is my responsibility to make them happy with my education.
I finished my primary years with flying colours; 5a’s in UPSR and continue my study at a boarding school in Slim River, Perak.
There, I lead my own life as Slim River is an a hour journey from my home. My parents cannot visit me frequently as they have their
own commitment in business. At that particular point, I’d learned the hard way of independent. The value of friendship, time and
financial management and respect are some of the attributes I gained during my study at SMK Agama Slim River. With a blink of
eye, I was in my form 3 in 2006. This particular year,I sat for my PMR examination and with god will, I succeed to get 9A’s.
With the brilliant result,I got an offer to a better school with title Sekolah Berasrama Penuh (SBP). I started my new secondary year
at SBP Integrasi Gopeng. This is where the challenge begun. This school was the centre of acumulation of brilliant students across
Perak, Penang and Kedah. I have to struggle hard enough to maintain my study momentum.
Well, how high I achieve in my examination is not everything. For me, academic and personality building must go
along together. Thus, I’d joined several co-curiculum activities during my schoolyears. Since I was form 1, I joined
the debate club and have some attributes to be a debater. But only in form2, I manage to represent my school in
story telling competition.since then, I represent my school for 4 consecutive years as a debater. Debate teach me
how to judge something thoroughly and looking at a situation from multiple point of view. It consequently increase
my level of confidence. I’m also active in playing scrabble and during form 3 I went to an open tournament and
placed myself on the 12th place in the national level. Next, I participated in some quizzes such as ASEAN quiz in
form 3, Malaysian Tourism Quiz in form 4 and I got merit for Malaysia National Chemistry quiz during my form 5.
Despite of those activities, I was so glad to be given such a telent in arabic caligraphy.the best achievements I got is during my form
5 where I became the first runner-up in state level. But the best achievement ever is when I representing Malaysia to the Cyber
Development Corps Meeting and Worksyop 2008. The event thought me to see environmental issue in deeper concern and dealing
with international participant which is older than me. It is a great moment to share and it teach me to be more mature in facing the
global world of numerous cultures and values.
However, I manage to preserve my momentum until the SPM trial result which I managed to score 10A’s and 2B’s. I try to seek any
oppurtunity to continue my study with my trial result and with god will,I managed to enter Universiti Teknologi Petronas. With the
course Business Information System, I nearly kill my dreams and ability.i have the brain of scientist not to judge something but to
investigate and justify the nature of something. And I really wanted to realize my dream that is to be a biotechnologist.however, pity
on me, Petronas does not offer any scholarship regarding my dream course and I consequently decided to wait for my actual SPM
result to apply for MARA-PILN.
The moment I got the SPM result slip, my dreams dancing with joy in my mind. . Praise to god, I scored well in my
SPM with 11A’s and 1B. I try to search as many as possible oppurtunities to pursue my study in biotechnology.
Consequently, I remember MARA.
So, why do I want to take biotechnology as my course? It is simple; I love biology! I always wanted to take course
that related to biology. There are many courses that offer biology as the core subject but I choose biotechnology
because it is the combination between biological sciences and engineering. Biotechnology also gives me the
knowledge and wisdom as a tool to make the life better.
However, like Shakespeare always said, the true blindness is when dream without work. So the first step I have to clarify the path
that I want to take in order to achieve my dream. Thousand step of journey started with the first step! I always want to take
International Baccalaureate (IB) as the first step to jump higher. I had done some researches regarding IB including the study
structure which includes the 3 major portions of learning that is theory of knowledge, extended essay and creativity, action, and
services. The qualification of IB recognizes by most of the universities in the world. I went through some centers that offer IB but I
hope that I can do my IB at Taylor University College. Long-term mission for me is to score between the ranges of 35 to 45 in my IB
so that I can pursue my study in biotechnology.
To further my view of future, I ought to think about University of Nottingham, UK. This dream since I was six because one of my friends had their
parents to study here and she bought me some pictures of the university. Since then, I aimed this university for so long until now, I hope I can
retrieve my dream into reality. The university offers the study of biotechnology that consume for about 3 years of study. The campus of the
university that undergoes this course is Sutton Bonnington Campus, UK. I hope to be there and pursue my study there. The main reason for
choosing this university primarily because of its excellent academic performances. The University of Nottingham situated at number 86 in the list
of world best university. Hence, it is undeniable to choose this university as the next place to gain the power of wisdom.
The country is now searching for the available potential upon developing new way of thinking and innovation. In fact, Malaysia is
now focusing in expanding the research and development sector to diverge the potential of its resource. With the emerging hope of
nation, I think I want to be apart of the successor of nation dream and change Malaysia to be a better place. After finishing my
undergraduate study, I hope I can serve my country well. The first thing is to diversify the current environmental issue and change
Malaysia to be a paradise of the world. Second is to serve the humankind in order to fight diseases and other threats to human life.
With this kind of determination, I strongly believe that I can make Malaysia a better place to live
However, without the power of wisdom, it seems like talking to the wood and stabbing the wall. So, with the opportunity that I hope will be given
to me, I’ll try to run through the highest potential of myself and help the country to gain it reputation in the eyes of the world. I hope, with the
passionate I gained inside myself since I was 5, MARA will considerate my notion to pursue my study in biotechnology. With that, I end with full
of hope.
essay 2
People always address me as Daniel even though my full name is Muhammad Daniel Azlan bin Mahadzir. I was born
on 12th August 1991 at Kinta Medical Centre, Ipoh. Briefly, I am an average person with an outstanding outer
personality and good personal attributes. Those are from; I believe inherited from my parents, Mahadzir Ramly and
Nurhidayah Yeoh binti Abdullah. They are successful businesspersons whom committed with their business and
never give up with the challenging life. Consequently, they are the best role model for me.
During my childhood, my mom never bought me sort of toys or comics that usually kids have, instead I got tones of
books and novella since the age of 5. Sometimes, I feel bored with those letters and words; however, I’m so glad
now because my parents accomplished to cultivate reading as my hobby. Until now, I never forget to feed my mind
with emerging facts and daydream fictions.
People see me in various point of view; either bad or good. I do not care about their estimation towards myself but I
always see myself optimistically. Human never perfect but we have strived to achieve the perfection. With that
statement as principle of my life, I’ve been trained myself to be an optimistic person with high credibility and
astounding confidence. Living with a business culture taught me to be so mature and competitive in all situations.
In fact, the challenging surrounding carved the sense of leadership inside my heart which in turn makes me is able
to work in a group well. I never placed myself in the comfortable zone instead always searching for challenge and
opportunity in my life. Not to forget, I am also a responsible mankind towards myself, my parents and also my God.
With those kinds of attributes I believe I can stand out one day as a good leader and change the world to a better
place to live.
My parents believe that knowledge and wisdom is the power that can undertake the world, so do I. As a result, they
never forget to send me to schools to gain much education as a child has to. After much they had spent to me, I
never blemish their hope and end up my primary hood with 5A’s. Subsequently, during my secondary school, I
attended a boarding school which situated at Slim River, Perak. Being split up with my parents taught me to be a
strong son and independent in organizing myself. SMKA Slim River has good facilities which I exploited very well
and with God will, I scored 9A’s for my PMR examination.
With the flying colors result, I managed to get a place at SBP Integrasi Gopeng which is better than my previous
school. Here, everything is different; the challenge is poles apart as most of brilliant students gathered here. In
order to hit my target, I have to study smart to keep my momentum as my surrounding never forgets to challenge
me. Praise to God as until the SPM trial examination, I managed to keep my impetus and scored well in each
scrutiny. Well, the peak of my school years is SPM and with the support of my beloved teachers together with my
parents and my exigent friends, I managed to score 11A’s.
No play makes Jack a dull boy. The English saying confront me as I never failed to join any co curriculums that suit
me. Since form 1, I joined the debate club and managed to represent my school for 4 consecutive years in Bahas
Anugerah Asrama Terbilang and Bahas ala Parlimen Piala Perdana Menteri. Debate taught me many things
including the way of addressing opinions and to see each situation in multiple points of view. After all, I also active
in playing scrabble which brought me in 2006 to an open tournament. Even I played with people older than myself; I
defied them and managed to put myself at the 12th place. I am also a computer nerd. I represent my school in many
website competitions including Maxis CyberlinQ Competition. But highest achievement in computing was when I
represent Malaysia in Cyber Development Corps which internationally participated in conjunction to World Congress
on ICT. There, I proposed my paperwork about the emerging environmental problems including the ICT footprints. It
was one of my best experiences ever. Next, in the sport arena, I am a good basketball player and in fact, playing
basketball is my second hobby after reading. However, I never managed to represent my school in any basketball
tournament: which make the worst part of me. Dealing with sport game made me a good teammate to my team
where all cooperation and spirit blooms in each game. With all this participation and hard work, I am awarded with
Anugerah Pelajar Terbilang Kokurikulum 2008.
After ended up my school years with flying colors, it took me quite a time to think about my tertiary study.
However, after looking at my ability and support from surrounding, I choose to involve with biotechnology in future.
So, why biotechnology? It’s a perfect complement of me as I love biology very much. In fact since my primary
school, I never failed to show off my interest in science subjects. To add, my dad bought me a scientific
encyclopedia since I was only 5! Therefore the influence of science in me cannot be denied by everyone. Instead of
only loving biology, biotechnology suits me the best as it is a unique combination between biology and technology.
As we know, technology is something that is so important in our life nowadays. Technology deals with everything
while biology is something related to life. Plus, I achieved good results in both chemistry and physics too, thus,
technology may not be a big deal for me.
A journey of thousand miles starts with the first step. As my study plan, I hope to start with getting a scholarship
from MARA to undergo International Baccalaureate (IB) program. This is because IB is authorized by most of the
university in the world. Plus, I had done some research about IB which include the study structure which include 3
major portions that are theory of knowledge, extended essay and creativity, action and services. I also planned to
take my IB at Taylor’s University College primarily because of its outstanding academic achievements. In this way, I
hope I can score between the ranges of 35 to 45 as my first move to study biotechnology abroad.
Getting a place at the 86th best university in the world is my dream since I started to look forward about my high
education. University of Nottingham is the preferable venue for me to continue my study in biotechnology. This is
because; the university provides world class facilities to their student which I believe I can exploit for the sake of
my study. In fact, this university also has an undeniable breathtaking nature as its surrounding that accordingly
conducive to study. With that specialty, I hope I can get 4.0 value of CGPA and end up with a First Class Degree.
As Malay say, ‘hujan emas di negeri orang, hujan batu di negeri sendiri, lebih baik di negeri sendiri’. No matter how
far I go, no matter I high I fly, I will never forget my country, Malaysia. As a responsible citizen, I have my own aim
and goal to achieve after completed my degree. First thing, I want to commit myself to government sectors which I
want to make as many as possible investigation especially in agriculture sectors. Next, I would like to do some
research in order to diverge the environmental problem in this country and try my very best to make Malaysia a
better place to live. Until then, I hope I can stand out and tell the world to save the Mother Nature and therefore
reduce the pollutions in the world.
Putting into conclusion, science is always my soul. I hope I will be given the opportunity to study biotechnology and
contribute back to my own country. With all the passionate I have shown, I hope MARA will take my request into
consideration. With that, I end my word with a quote by Abraham Lincoln, ‘a world without dream is undefined, thus
always make your dream come true and help other to achieve their dream too, that is a pure deed for you.’

selalu bertutur BI tapi hari temuduga jadi kelu pula.
Jadi, masih banyak peluang. InsyaAllah!
TAMAT
Kepada rakan-rakan lain, mohon beri komen. Terutama mereka di bidang perubatan yang belajar di KMB, pasti anda punyai banyak
pengalaman tentang temuduga. Bantulah mereka yang lain. Silalah komen. TQ

temuduga! seronok (untuk MARA)
yeah, temuduga sangat mudah, tapi jangan mudah ambil ringan.
Masa saya temuduga, soalan sangat mudah & basic.

sehijau daun, seputih baldu August 29th, 2009 at 11:12 am

sehijau, terima kasih. Ya betul mata memang kena tgk panel, nanti orang cakap kita ni berkomunikasi dengan dinding pula. Panel juga akan guna

pretty much covered dah pun. cuma, since I dulu ambil temuduga MARA for TESOL, we have this written essay that is done before our
interview or after.
Like me, after the interview, one of the MARA officer brought me to an empty room , give me a pen and a paper and ask me to write an essay
about “how to develop understanding between generations in the country.”
30 minutes.
I did in 15.
the tips are write short, yet precise. One page is enough, but make sure there are 3 points.
During my interview, I was asked about “etika perguruan” and “pedagogi”. *gasp* walhal yang lain2 kena soalan biasa-biasa jer. huhu.
interviewer tak puas hati kot ngan aku. sampai 4 minutes kena interview. orang lain 20 minutes ja. huhu.

wan khairul August 29th, 2009 at 4:57 pm

45 minutes. *errata*

keyakinan…ak dulu dia xde la tnya soalan maut pun…just sembang2…salah satu soalannya adalah kenapa nama ak bermula dengan wan…tp
hati2..jgn smpai hangus…
p/s: haha..tringat satu soalan yg ak xleh jawab dulu…”give me ur good qualities??”
jejaka August 31st, 2009 at 3:10 am
ni satu tips lagi..
tp kena pandai2 guna la..
senyum selalu…
tunjukkan muka mesra.. hehe

jangan cakap laju sangat he he sampai orang tak paham. also, if u put your certs/ credentials etc in a file, divide ‘em into sections ie academic, co-
curricullar, misc bla bla make it easier for interviewer to flip thru, also to show that you’re organised (even if you’re not, do it for interview’s
sake).

ME, MY EDUCATION AND CAREER PLANNING

Born and named as Khairun Nurlisa binti Kamal, I am the first cute daughter of Kamal bin Abdul Hamid and Norazlin
binti Md. Isa. I was born on November 12th, 1991 in Penang. Right now, I am already 17 and going to turn 18 years
old this coming November. I stayed with my family in Kulim, a small town in southern Kedah. I am the eldest sister
among three siblings. I had a younger brother and a younger sister. My father works as a technician and my mother
is a full-time housewife. I started my primary education at SK Pangkalan TLDM 2, Lumut, Perak during my father
was still in his service as a Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). Then, when we moved to Kulim, I continued my study in SK
Taman Kenari, Kulim. During the year 2003, I took the UPSR examination and I passed with flying colours to score
5A’s. I furthered my lower secondary education at SMK Sultan Badlishah, Kulim and in the year 2006, I’ve been
listed as one of the best student after I got 8A’s in PMR examination. After obtaining a good result in PMR, I was
offered to carry on my upper secondary education at MARA Junior Science College Kubang Pasu, Kedah. I took my
SPM in the year 2008 and as a result, I got straight 9A’s. Proven, I am a very consistent and determined student in
achieving my entire target in every examination that I’ve taken.

Stepping into MJSC Kubang Pasu, it truly gave me a possibility to polish my talent, my abilities and my potential to
become a versatile student. Being one of College Prefect Boards Exco, has exposed me to become a strong leader
that full of professional leadership qualities and readily to face any challenges after I’ve attended the Malaysian
Institute of Integrity’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Rebung 2007 Programme at MJSC Alor Gajah, Melaka.
Besides, I also involved in the Youth Forum Team and represented the college during the Inter-MJSC Language
Week held at MJSC Transkrian, Penang. By joining this team, I could gain and build up my self-confidence in giving
speeches and share my ideas with others. At the same time, I also hold the position Vice President of College Girl
Ranger and participated in the Inter-MJSC Girl Ranger Camp. This shows that I am a student that is compatible with
many kinds of activities either curricular or co-curricular activities. Although I was busy and getting active in those
activities, yet I was still able to divide and manage my time efficiently. In addition of my examination result that is
always consistent; I was a recipient of the Principal’s List of Merit for 4 semesters consecutively and graduated as
First Class from MJSC Kubang Pasu.

Why I really insist to pursue my study in dentistry? Since I was small, I always aspired to become a dentist when I
grow up. I got many compelling reasons why I choose dentist as my future career. Dentist belongs to one of the
best profession, mainly responsible for people life. I love to help needy people. So, by being a dentist, I can serve to
the people and help those people in improving their oral health, as well as quality of life and their appearance. It is
really a great satisfaction for me if I can lend a hand to help people especially the poor, the disabled people and the
elderly. Furthermore, dentistry is a dynamic health profession that provides a great job prospect in the future since
currently there are insufficient dentist available in Malaysia to provide adequate oral care to its population. The
demand for dental care is projected to grow as baby boomers age, they will continue to need preventive services
and require maintenance on existing dental work. As in Malaysia, the current ratio is 1: 10 000 which means one
dentist to 10,000 people. The country hopes to achieve a ratio of 1: 4,000 in 2020. Undoubtedly, there is a high
demand for dentist. In addition, a dentist is usually not required to be on call at night or to make house calls. Thus,
it is easier for dentist to attain a perfect balance between their personal and professional lives.

As for medicines that have so many areas of specialization, so do dentistry. The areas of specialization in dentistry
including oral surgery, orthodontics, endodontics, forensic dentistry and community dentistry. I’ve decided to
continue my study regarding dentistry in Manipal University, India. For the dental students, this established
university has provided their own college known as The Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal. It was the first
self financing dental college in the private sector in India. Established in the year 1965, it initially had an intake of
40 students that was later increased to 100 admissions from 1983-84 onwards.

Apart form The Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal, this university also have another dental college
situated in Mangalore known as The Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore. This college was established in
the year 1987. It is situated in the heart of the city besides the Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore at Light House
Hill Road. This college is approved and recognized by the Dental Council of India in the year 1992. It has also been
accredited by NAAC and recognized by Malaysian Dental Council. Besides that, the college has excellent
infrastructure facilities with adequate dental chairs and latest state of the art of dental equipments. All the latest
dental materials for various clinical procedures are available for student use. Regarding the teaching faculty, they
are full time staff with excellent teaching and clinical experience. There is a centrally air conditioned library, Lecture
Halls, audio-visual aids like LCD. etc. are used for teaching purposes. The college also undertakes dental camps in
rural areas for teaching purposes. Transport is provided from the hostel to the teaching places. So, it would be
easier for me whenever I attend the class everyday. There is also an excellent ambience for studies and recreation.
Thus, in my opinion, Manipal University is a great choice for me to continue my study in dentistry.

Just like a typical dental student, each student must have a very good and strong basic regarding pure science
subject respectively, especially Biology. Science subjects especially Biology is the most subject I’ve interested with.
Since the intake to fill this course is quite competitive, I must achieve good result in all my examinations. Basically,
it will take at about 5-6 years to finish up my study in the dental course before I can become a doctor and got the
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). All fresh dental graduates are compulsory required to work for the Ministry of
Health for three to five years. On completion, I can either choose to continue my career in the public health
services, work in the Ministry of Defence or Institute of Medical Research. Not only that, I also can set up my own
dental practice, work in the private sector or become academician. I can even become a dental officer by
continuing my studies in master for about three to five years and be one of the specialists in oral surgery. Hence,
dentist in Malaysia will have many career pathways undertaken with this degree.

This is all about me, my education and career planning if I took dentistry as my primary choice to further my study.
Despite of deep interest in this field, dentistry also serve a lot of golden opportunity in Malaysia, especially in the
future. This job is not only about making money, but also mainly about how to improve my race level in this
modernity lives. As this field is less monopolized by the Malay bumiputras, I think I’ve had the responsibility to help
my own people. I will surely do anything to achieve my goals. Moreover, dentistry will be one of rewarding career
and surely people will start to look for a chance to get to know more about it.

Many students choose to attend schools or universities outside their home countries. Why do some students Tabby
study abroad? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer. I'm new here and I like
it ;-)
Knowledge itself is a power. Thirst of knowledge took many famous historians to different parts of this world.
Mahatma Gandhi went to South Africa to study law and returned as a great scholar with a conviction of helping
people of his country to get justice. Likwise, many students prefer studying abroad because of various reasons. I
think students are inclined towards pursuing their studies outside their home countries due to various reasons such
as for higher standards of education, better campus facilities, to enlighten their resume and for better employment
opportunities.

In some developing countries, where the standard of imparting education is not very high, students prefer foreign Posts: 26
universities to do further studies. For instance, if the student discovers that his field of interest such as aeronautical Location: Canada
engineering, biotechnical or nanotechnological engineering, do not have good colleges in his home country or are
less and it is difficult to get through any of them, he thinks of going abroad and take admission there to quench his
desire to do a higher level of study.

Some universities have excellent infrastructure, good research facilities and attractive scholarships for students.
These factors attract a student who wants to achieve success in his career path but the universities in his home
country are deficient of the above requirements. Some foreign universities offer attractive scholarships to students
studying at an undergraduate or graduate level, which can also be the reason behind student’s motivation since it
makes him independent while studying.

Degree from a good foreign university always adds up to one’s resume. A person after achieving a degree/diploma
certificate from abroad improves his credentials and opportunities of employment. Response to such students in
developing countries is overwhelming as far as job matters are concerned.

Many students, after completing their education from universities abroad, seek employment legally in these
countries especially, if the economy of the foreign country is better than his home country. These countries offer
them better salary packages and benefits, which they may not expect in their own country. So, some students have a
notion that studying abroad opens their doors to the employment in the outer world.
