COLONIAL SHIPYARD v1.

1 INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE:
Some users running Windows Vista or Windows 7 may receive an error message when
opening Colonial Shipyard. The error message describes 'removing unreadable con
tent' including programming functions and Active X controls. This error seems t
o be with Excel and will prevent you from using the "Save Class" and "Clear Temp
late" buttons. However, the construction tool itself, and data card generator a
re completely functional.
DESIGN NOTE:
Generally speaking, if a box is shown in red it means you need to enter some inf
ormation, or you have exceeded a construction limit. There should be no red box
es on the Template tab when you ship design is finished.
STEP ONE - TECH
From the drop-down, select which faction you wish to build a ship for. Selectin
g DEFAULT will set all tech levels to 5 as this is the default standard for Colo
nial Battlefleet. Alternately, you can select 'custom' and enter in your desire
d tech levels in the boxes provided.
The benefit from the faction you have chosen (if any) will be displayed below, a
long with the maximum limits based on tech level for Delta, Shields, Armor, and
starship Tonnage.
STEP TWO - TYPE
Enter a class name and ship name for your ship.
From the drop down select the ship's Type - Hull - Tonnage from the list.
From the drop down select the ship's role. Only those roles that correspond to
the hull type will be available.
Information about your ship and it's role benefits will be displayed below based
on your selections.
STEP THREE - GENERAL INFORMATION
In this section, the value column to the right shows the final value for each se
lection after role and other modifiers have been applied. If the value box turn
s red, you have made an illegal selection. The Used column shows how much mass
your selection has taken up, and the Left column shows how much total mass your
ship has remaining to spend.
Enter the number of points of delta (thrust) you wish to purchase.
Enter the desired shield level for your ship. The number you enter must be equa
l to or less than the 'Max of -' number.
Enter the additional points of armor you wish to purchase for your ship. Base a
rmor + extra armor, must be less than the 'Max' armor number given.
Enter the number of point defense dice you wish to purchase for your ship. The
cost of each die and the maximum number of dice (after modifiers are applied) yo
ur ship may have is listed.
Enter the number of fire control points you wish to purchase for your ship. You
may have a total of up to 6 fire control after modifiers are applied. The cost
for fire control points is given.
STEP FOUR - WEAPONS & EQUIPMENT
On each hardpoint, select a weapon system you wish to mount on your ship from th
e drop down list. Only weapons you are legally permitted are listed.
For each weapon, enter the number to mount on the hard point, select an arc of f
ire from the list provided, and enter the amount of ammo you wish to purchase (i
f applicable). The stats for the weapon will appear, along with the amount of s
pace each weapon & its ammunition takes. The 'Used' column indicates the total
for all weapons, ammunition, and the mount used.
NOTE:
For any weapon listed as Missile or Fighter, select N/A for the arc of fire. Al
so, if you attempt to enter a number of weapons greater than that which is allow
ed by your ship size, the entry will be rejected.
From the drop down select any special equipment you want to mount on your ship a
nd the number you are purchasing.
Enter the number of additional Security Forces you wish to purchase for your shi
p.
PRINTING THE SHIP DATA CARD
Click on the tab labeled SSD. You can now see and print your ship data card.
SAVING YOUR CLASS
Click on the blue button labeled Save Class Information. Your ship will now be
saved on the Ship Class List tab and can be pulled up on the multi-SSD (below).
To delete a ship from the ship class list tab, simply highlight all the cells af
ter the ID Num column, and delete the contents. You have have some "junk ships"
in there when you open the Shipyard for the first time, which you will need to
delete.
PRINTING MULTIPLE SHIPS AT ONCE
You can use the Multi-SSD tab to print off up to three ships at once. In the to
p left hand corner of each data card on the multi-ssd tab is a light gray number
. That number corresponds to the ID Num column on the Ship Class List tab. If
you type in a number, it will automatically display the corresponding data card
from the Ship Class List.
CREATING CUSTOM FACTIONS
Click on the Factions tab. Scroll down to the table of DEFAULT & CUSTOM FACTION
TECH LEVELS. Place an X in the column "Use this Faction." Enter the desired t
ech levels and faction name. That faction will now be available in the faction
selection dropdown. To delete, either remove the X, or delete all the informati
on on the row.
