Verbs –
The intransitive verb expresses a solo action, but the transitive verb is for an action that

Hidoi = cruel, rough, harsh, unfair, inhuman, merciless, outrageous
Urasai! = noisy, annoying
Itai = painful, hard to bear
Yowai = weak, feeble, fragile
Tsuyoi = strong, tough, mighty
Muda = useless, fruitless, futile, ineffective, done in vain
Kirei = beautiful (It’s beautiful), pretty, clean (ie: clean room)
Hontouni = really, truly
Suteki-na/Suteki = fantastic, wonderful, glorious, splendid, marvelous, brilliant
Hen-na/Hen = strange, odd, funny
Sukoshi = little bit, somewhat (this is really an adverb & goes B4 adj like in Eng.)
Dame-na/ Dame = no-good, don’t (dame tells someone “don’t do it”)

Ni – links action to direct object (e.g. write letters, buy candy, buy clothes)
Ne = isn't it, aren't you, don't you think so? (ie: Kawaii, ne?)
Desu – ends sentences politely; also means death
Masu – ends sentences politely; also means trout; increase/grow;

Tsutsuaru = (with masu stem) to be doing; to be in the process of doing
Some Phrases
Nihongo de hanashite kudasai. = Please speak in Japanese.
Eigo de hanashite kudasai. = Please speak in English.
Supeingo o hanashimasu ka. = Do you speak Spanish?
Nihongo no jugyou wa tanoshii desu. = The Japanese class is interesting.
Nihon-jin desu ka. = Are you Japanese?
Itadakimasu = I gratefully receive.
Gochisosama deshita = Thanks for the foods
Doushitashimashite = You’re welcome; Don’t mention it.
Youkoso = Welcome!/ Nice to See You!
Matta atta ne. = So we meet again
Dochira he = How are you?
Sumimasen = Excuse me
Asoko ni suwaremasu ka? = Can we sit over there
Otearai wa doko desu ka? = Where is a rest room?
Otearai karite ii desu ka? = Can I use your rest room?
Onaka ga suita = I’m hungry
Chotto ippai. = Let’s have a quick drink.
Onomimono wa nani ni shimasuka? = What do you want to drink?

Inu ni esa o yaru = Feed the dog
Ashita shichi-ji ni okiru = I am going to get up at 7 o’clock tomorrow
Shichi-ji ni okoshite = Wake me up at 7.
