We started reading the module this week and it was between good and a bad experience, I am a
slow learner that’s why I need to keep reading the topic a bunch of times and I asked some of my
classmates help to discuss some parts of the topics that I did not understand. I don’t much have
an opinion about this subject since I’m really bad at research, ever since my junior high school
years, that’s why I’m really glad that my classmates are helping me. And to our subject teacher, I
am really thankful that she’s doing all she can and have long patience to explain to us about
nursing research. I want to learn more about nursing research that’s why I’m really trying to
search about it. We also tried discussing online (video chat) and it was fine, I have questions but
since I’m really shy, I was just listening the whole time, online discussion is not that hard for me
since I do have all the gadgets I need to learn and I would really love to help my classmates who
are struggling because of this online class. I keep asking why we need a nursing research and
why is it important to discuss about it.

SO WHY DO WE NEED TO STUDY RESEARCH?

“Research helps nurses determine effective best practices and improve patient care. Nurses in
an online RN to BSN program learn to retrieve, read, critique and apply nursing research.
Because new information is always coming to light, it is crucial that BSN-prepared nurses know
the importance of research. The findings from peer-reviewed studies can correct old
misunderstandings, pave the way for new treatment protocols and create new methodology — all
of which improve patient outcomes.

Research also helps nursing respond to changes in the healthcare environment, patient
populations and government regulations. As researchers make discoveries, the practice of
nursing continues to change. The information students learn can become quickly outdated, so
being able to keep up with new developments in nursing helps graduates in their careers.”

I know we are all struggling because of this new normal, but I hope that I will still learn a lot and
won’t get left behind. I trust myself, my classmates and my teachers that we will all get through
this and we will finish this school year with good health, knowledge and determination to reach
our dreams.
