 Computer In Teaching and Learning

Nowadays, computers play an important role in the teaching and learning process.
The computer technology has a deep impact on the education industry. It forms a part of the
school curriculum and it is important in every individual’s lives today. Computer teaching
also plays a role in the modern systems of education. Students easily search for references on
the internet rather than waiting for the teacher to explain the lesson. Computers that help in
the teaching and learning process have been developed since a long time ago, namely CAL.
As the writer of the article www.encyclopedia.com (December 7, 2020) says Computer-
assisted learning is one of several terms used to describe this application of
computers.computer-assisted learning (CAL) Any use of computers to aid or support the
education or training of people. CAL can test attainment at any point, provide faster or slower
routes through the material for people of different aptitudes, and can maintain a progress
record for the instructor.

Computer Assisted Learning (or CAL) has completely modernized the way that
students learn, both in the average classroom as well as in language-learning settings.
Computer Assisted Learning can make lessons much more interactive and engaging, and can
pique the interest of even the most reluctant of pupils.Computer Assisted Learning
encompasses a lot of different technologies and ideas, but can be understood easily enough.
The Intense School, which focuses on computer and information technology, summarizes it
simply as “the use of electronic devices/computers to provide educational instruction and to
learn”.

Most of the teachers also consider the computer to be one of the cornerstones of
modern education. They promoted the appearance of computers in teaching because they
want the education to be not limited only in the classroom. One of the easiest ways to teach a
lesson is by using a presentation through PowerPoint. The lesson is delivered through slides
and students find it comfortable for them to take down notes.

The findings revealed that teachers often used computers to update subject knowledge
and teaching skills, develop lesson plans, prepare additional instructional material, notify
relevant information via internet, prepare question banks. They sometimes used computers
for showing something in the class, showcasing students’ work on school-website, preparing
test papers, simulations, games, students’ assignments. They had either rarely or never used
computers for presenting entire lesson, students’ classroom presentations, tutorials, sharing
information with parents, publishing homework, giving tests to students – either offline or
online, maintaining students’ records, and individualized instructions.
