Opening the sealed disk package implies your acceptance of the terms and conditions of this agreement.

Roland License Agreement

Roland DG Corporation (“Roland”) grants you a non-assignable and non-exclusive right to use the COMPUTER PROGRAMS in the
disk package (“Software”) under this agreement with the following terms and conditions.

1. Coming into Force


This agreement comes into force when you purchase and open the sealed disk package. The effective date of this agreement is the
date when you open the sealed disk package.

2. Property
Copyright and property of this Software, logo, name, manual and all literature for this Software belong to Roland and its licenser.
The followings are prohibited:
Unauthorized copying the Software or any of its support file, program module or literature.
Reverse engineering, disassembling, decompiling or any other attempt to discover the source code of the Software.

3. Bounds of License
Roland does not grant you to sub-license, rent, assign or transfer the right granted under this agreement nor the Software itself
(including the accompanying items) to any third party.
You may not provide use of the Software through time-sharing service and/or network system to any third party who is not indi-
vidually licensed to use this Software.
You may use the Software by one person with using a single computer in which the Software is installed.

4. Reproduction
You may make one copy of the Software only for back-up purpose. The property of the copied Software belongs to Roland.
You may install the Software into the hard disk of a single computer.

5. Cancellation
Roland retains the right to terminate this agreement without notice immediately when any of followings occurs:
When you violate any article of this agreement.
When you make any serious breach of faith regarding this agreement.

6. Limitations on Liability
Roland may change the specifications of this Software or its material without notice.
Roland shall not be liable for any damage that may caused by the use of the Software or by exercise of the right licensed by this
agreement.

7. Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of Japan, and the parties shall submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Japanese Court.

1. System Requirements

System Requirements for Installing the Software

Operating system Windows 7/8.1/10 (32 bit edition/64 bit edition)


Processor The minimum required CPU for the operating system
Memory The minimum amount of required RAM for the operating system
(1 G bytes or more recommended)
Optical drive CD-ROM drive
Free hard-disk space required 30 MB
for installation
Video card and monitor At least 16 bit colors (High Color) with a resolution of 800 x 600 or more
recommended

System Requirements for USB Connection


Making a USB connection with Windows requires use of a computer that meets all of the following system requirements.
Please note that other configurations cannot be supported.

USB cable 1) Model preinstalled with Windows 7/8.1/10 (32 bit edition/64 bit edition), or upgraded
computer originally preinstalled with Windows 7 or later
2) Computers on which USB operation is assured by the manufacturer of computers
Computer Use a shielded cable up to three meters (10 ft.) in length. Never use a USB hub.

2. Installing and Setting Up to the Software

Software on This CD-ROM

: Be sure to install and set up.

: Install and set up as required.

Windows driver This is a Windows-based driver required for sending data from a computer to the ma-
chine. Be sure to install it when you are using any of the programs just described.

VPanel This is a dedicated program for controlling the modeling machine. You operate the
modeling machine and make various settings using this program.

Dr.Engrave This program is for flat engraving of nameplates and the like. It can use any TrueType
fonts registered with Windows. It also comes with its own stroke fonts. You can even
import images and engrave items such as logos. There is even a feature that lets you
import data from a list of names and engrave nameplates one after another.

3D Engrave This program is for designing and engraving reliefs (raised engravings). This lets
you easily add thickness to text, shapes, and imported images, and create three-
dimensional reliefs.

Virtual MODELA This program is for performing simulations before you actually carry out cutting us-
ing 3D Engrave. It lets you verify the finished results for shapes, the time required for
cutting, and other factors. This can help reduce loss in terms of material and time.

Information on how to use the included software is found in online help for each program.

Modeling-machine Command Modes


The following programs are compatible with RML-1. To use these programs, set the modeling machine's command mode
to "RML-1."

Installing the Windows Driver

Keep the printer and the computer unconnected until you carry out this installation operation. Failure to follow the
correct procedure may make installation impossible.

Procedure

 Check that the machine is not connected to a computer.

 Log on to Windows as “Administrators.”

 Insert the Roland Software Package CD-ROM into the computer.


When the automatic playback window appears, click [Run menu.exe].
The install menu appears automatically.

 Click [Windows Driver] and [Install].


The Installation and Setup Guide appears on the screen.
When [User Account Control] is displayed on the screen, click
[YES].

 Follow the instructions in the Setup Guide to


finish installing.
As following the instructions in the Setup Guide, you will find
the procedure to connect the machine to a computer.
Make sure to keep the instructions given below.
 Never connect two or more machines to one computer.
 For the USB cable, use the included cable.
 Never use a USB hub.

Installing the Software

Procedure

 Display the window for the install menu of the software.

 Click the [Install] of the program you want to


install and set up.
The setup window appears.

 Follow the messages to install the software.


The [User Account Control] appears, click [Allow], and install the softwares.

 Repeat steps  and  to install and set up each program.

 When all installation finishes, click of


the install menu.

 Remove the CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive.

How to View the Online Help


The documentation for the included programs is in the form of online help. Follow the procedure below to view it.

From the [Start] menu, choose the program you’re using, then click [Help].

4. What to Do If...

What to Do If Installation Is Impossible (USB connection)


If installation quits partway through, or if the wizard does not appear when you make the connection with
a USB cable, take action as follows.

Windows 7
1. Connect the machine to the computer with the USB cable and turn on the machine
2. If the [Found New Hardware] appears, click [Cancel] to close it.
3. Click the [Start] menu, then right-click [Computer]. Click [Properties].
4. Click [Device Manager].
The [User Account Control] appears, click [Continue].
The [Device Manager] appears.
5. At the [View] menu, click [Show hidden devices].
6. In the list, find [Other devices], then double-click it.
When the model name you are using or [Unknown device] appears below the item you selected, click it to choose it.
7. Go to the [Action] menu, and click [Uninstall].
8. In "Confirm Device Uninstall" window, select [Delete the driver software for this device.], and then click [OK].
Close the [Device Manager].
9. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer, and then restart Windows.
10. Uninstall the driver.
Be sure to uninstall the driver by following the step 3 and subsequent steps in the procedure given in page 8, "Uninstall-
ing Driver Windows 7."
11. Install the driver again from the beginning by following the procedure given in page 4, "Installing the Windows Driver."

Windows 10/ 8.1


1. Connect the machine to the computer with the USB cable and turn on the machine.
2. If the [Found New Hardware] message appears, click [Close] to close it. Disconnect any USB cables for printers or other
such equipment other than this machine.
3. Right-click the [Start] menu.
4. Click [Device Manager].
5. If the [User Account Control] window appears, click [Continue]. [Device Manager] appears.
6. Click [Show hidden devices] from the [View] menu.
7. In the list, find [Printers] or [Other devices], and then double-click it. Under the selected item,
click the name of the model you are using or [Unknown device].
8. Click [Uninstall] from the [Action] menu.
9. In the "Confirm Device Uninstall" window, click [OK]. Close [Device Manager].
10. Detach the USB cable from the computer, and then restart Windows.
11. Uninstall the driver.
Be sure to uninstall the driver by following the step 3 and subsequent steps in the procedure given in page 8, "Uninstall-
ing Driver Windows 10/8.1".
12. Install the driver again from the beginning by following the procedure given in page 4, "Installing the Windows Driver."

4. What to Do If...

Uninstalling the Driver


When uninstalling the driver, perform following operation.

Windows 7
*If the driver is uninstalled without following the procedure given below, there is a possibility that it might not be able to
be re-installed.

1. Switch off the power to the machine, then detach the connector cable between the machine and the computer.
2. Switch on the machine.
3. Log on to Windows as “Administrator” right.
4. From the [Start] menu, click [Control Panel]. Click [Uninstall a program].
5. Click the driver for the machine to delete to select it, then Click [Uninstall].
6. A message prompting you to confirm deletion appears.
Click [Yes].
7. From the [Start] menu, choose [All Programs], then [Accessories], then [Run], and then click [Browse].
8. Choose the name of the drive or folder where the driver is located. (*)
9. Select "SETUP64.EXE (for 64-bit version)" or "SETUP.EXE (for 32-bit version)", and click [Open], then click [OK].
10. The [User Account Control] appears, click [Allow].
The Setup program for the driver starts.
11. Click [Uninstall] to choose it.
Select the machine to delete, then click [Start].
12. If it is necessary to restart your computer, a window prompting you to restart it appears. Click [Yes].
The uninstallation finishes after the computer restarts.

(*)
When using the CD-ROM, specify the folder as shown below (assuming your CD-ROM drive is the D drive).
D:\Driver\25D\WIN7X64 (64 bit edition)
D:\Driver\25D\WIN7X86 (32 bit edition)
If you're not using the CD-ROM, go to the Roland DG Corp. website (http://www.rolanddg.com/), and download the driver
for the machine you want to delete. Then, specify the folder where you extracted the downloaded file to.

Windows 10/ 8.1


1. Switch off the power to the machine, then detach the connector cable between the machine and the computer.
2. Switch on the machine.
3. Log on to Windows as “Administrator” right.
4. From the [Start] menu, click [Windows System], and then click [Control Panel].
5. Click [Uninstall a program].
6. Click the driver for the machine to delete to select it, then Click [Uninstall].
7. A message prompting you to confirm deletion appears.
Click [Yes].
8. Right-click [Start], and then open Explorer.
9. Choose the name of the drive or folder where the driver is located. (*)
10. Double-click "SETUP64.EXE (for 64-bit version)" or "SETUP.EXE (for 32-bit version)".
11. The [User Account Control] appears, click [Allow].
The Setup program for the driver starts.
12. Click [Uninstall] to choose it.
Select the machine to delete, then click [Start].
13. If it is necessary to restart your computer, a window prompting you to restart it appears.
Click [Yes].
The uninstallation finishes after the computer restarts.

4. What to Do If...

If you're not using the CD-ROM, go to the Roland DG Corp. website (http://www.rolanddg.com/), and download the driver
for the machine you want to delete. Then, specify the folder where you extracted the downloaded file to.
