ont les mêmes fonctions que les GN (vues au semestre 3)
SUJET DU VERBE:
[eating bananas] est une proposition subordonnée nominale en position sujet du verbe « can’t do ».
Grammar in English:
Doing that put him in just the right frame of mind to receive his guest for the evening at 6.30.
[Doing that] is a noun clause in the subject position, subject of the verb PUT. The main clause is [something put him in just the right
frame of mind to receive his guest for the evening at 6.30] and the subject is the noun clause doing that.

The problem is [that the second question cannot be answered until Washington comes up with a
consensus on the first.]
Structure fréquente avec des noms comme belief, problem, truth, knowledge, idea, theory, news,
fact, possibility, etc. = noms qui expriment une opinion, une activité mentale ou un acte de parole.
Attention à ne pas confondre ces nominales avec des relatives : THAT ici est une conjonction de
subordination, il n’est pas un pronom relatif car il ne remplit aucun fonction syntaxique à l’intérieur de
la proposition. (Revoir cours sur les relatives.)
