Spiritual Awakening and the UFO Phenomena

Current Theories on UFOs

The predominant view of events surrounding UFOs has been called the Extraterrestrial
Hypothesis, which presumes that creatures from outer space are using advanced craft to visit our
planet and interact with humans. Supporters of this theory cite the appearance of craft that seem
to outmaneuver our most advanced aircraft, as well as reports of alien creatures who are able to
control and manipulate humans at will.

Many researchers who have studied the phenomenon are now leaning towards an Inter-
dimensional Hypothesis, noting that the craft and their occupants have the ability to appear out
of nowhere, to fade in and out of visibility, and to pass through solid objects, such as through
windows and walls.

It has been suggested by some of the most knowledgeable observers that the apparent
ability of the UFOs to materialize and dematerialize seems to suggest they are
“hyperdimensional” or from some other domain, able to enter and leave our space-time at
will.

A variation on the Inter-dimensional Hypothesis is the Spiritual Awakening Hypothesis, which

postulates that a vast array of God-created sentient beings populate the galaxies of our universe
as well as an untold number of parallel dimensions. These may spill over or intersect with our
own world.

The Spiritual Awakening Hypothesis presupposes that all of us are immortal and powerful spirit
beings, children of God, if you will, who have the ability to create as our Creator does, even to
the extent of manifesting a material world, such as our own planet. Earth, being a sphere of
chaos, struggle, and death, is so far removed from our natural spiritual state, that it may be
thought of as a laboratory experiment, or quarantined thought system, which seems real to the
inhabitants, but is more like a dream, or a school for evolving souls when viewed from the
perspective of our eternal spirits.

What is seen in dreams seems to be very real. Yet the Bible says that a deep sleep fell upon
Adam, and nowhere is there reference to his waking up. The world has not yet experienced
any comprehensive reawakening or rebirth.

We are now approaching that time of awakening.

The spirit guides, our “alien” selves, and armies of inter-dimensional beneficent helpers are
poised to jog us out of our self-imposed stupor, to facilitate our re-membering, recalling that
connection to all that lives. In a religious sense this may be compared to the Atonement, the At-
One-ment, which re-establishes the awareness of the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of
man, not to mention our kinship with all the varied creatures and forms of consciousness that we
are about to discover. The awaking to this awareness comes in many forms, such as meditative
visions, near-death experiences, and religious epiphanies. These represent tears in the veil that
blocks our awareness of the real world.

Some see it suddenly on point of death, and rise to teach it. Others find it in experience that
is not of this world, which shows them that the world does not exist because what they
behold must be the truth, and yet it clearly contradicts the world.

The “real world” is that awareness we had before the separation, or what some call “the fall”
from grace.

Evidence for the Spiritual Awakening Hypothesis

The pioneers of this great awakening are already among us. The evidence can be seen not just in
contact with what we used to call extraterrestrial beings, but in the growing number of people
who report transcendental religious communications, near-death experiences, out-of-body
events, lucid dreaming, and even trips from drugs such as LSD, DMT, and salvia divinorum.

Researcher John Mack set the standard for this insight. He wrote two books on the subject of
spiritually transformative experiences related to UFOs: Abduction: Human Encounters with
Aliens (2007), and Passport to the Cosmos: Human Transformation and Alien Encounters
(2008). He was a psychiatrist, a writer, and a professor at Harvard Medical School. He was a
Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer, and an authority on the effects of alien abductions. Dr. Mack
documented case histories of people who claimed contact with aliens.

Many abduction experiences are unequivocally spiritual, which usually involves some sort of
powerful encounter with, or immersion in, divine light. This phenomenon is pervasive in
Carlos’s case and is present in many I have studied. The alien beings, although resented for
their intrusive activities, may also be seen as intermediaries, closer than we are to God or
the source of being.

Michael Newton, Ph.D., uses regression hypnosis to explore the other dimensions of
consciousness, those realms we inhabit before and between Earth lives. The beings, however, are
seen as spirit guides as opposed to aliens.

In one case, Dr. Newton queries a patient about life in these other realms.
 Dr. N: Tell me about your mental world. Does it have a name?

S: (pause) It’s a sound which I can’t re-create with my voice. . . . We float in a sea of gentle
mental currents . . . soft . . . playful . . . so unlike Earth.

Dr. N: Then why come here?

S: (with a deep sigh) I am studying to be an Explorer-teacher. Most of my associates are

satisfied to confine their efforts to one dimension. Finally I told (my guide) I wanted broader
experience with a hard world in a completely different zone of existences. She . . .
recommended another dimension with a strenuous physical world that had a reputation for
producing vigorous, insightful souls (with a gallows laugh) – once you survive the lessons.
This was Earth.

Here again we see the Earth as a school, and we are approaching the time for graduation. The
“teachers” in this and other schools are spirit guides, some of whom take the form of space
aliens. These same teachers reveal cosmic truths through channeled spiritual books, such as A
Course in Miracles, as quoted above. Another popular book in the New Age movement is The
Urantia Book, which describes the government galaxy, and describes all sorts of guides and
angels.

The worlds teem with angels and men and other highly personal beings, but they are
handicapped by time and space: The limit of velocity for most nonseraphimed beings is
186,280 miles of your world per second of your time; the midway creatures and certain
others can, often do, attain double velocity – 372,560 miles per second – while the seraphim
and others can traverse space at triple velocity, about 558,840 miles per second.

Yet another source of information on the spirit-UFO connection comes from astronauts who
have traveled beyond our planet. Many report seeing alien spacecraft during their journeys and
odd structures on the far side of the moon. Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell claims there have
been many UFO visits to Earth, but each is covered up. Mitchell founded the Institute for Noetic
Science.

All of these elements are converging as points of light illuminating the very spiritual nature of
contact with beings of higher consciousness. This consciousness is so foreign to our traditional
thinking that the bearers of the light are seen as “alien.” The truth is, however, that we are all
connected in a spiritual brotherhood.
Conclusion

The early days of UFO sightings and alien encounters were permeated with fear due to the high
strangeness of the events. Detailed studies of contacts with aliens and the abduction phenomenon
began to reveal a deeper meaning and purpose to the encounters. The pioneering work of John
Mack suggests the crafts and creatures may not be so foreign after all, but in fact may be the
harbingers of a global awakening to our spiritual identity.

UFO contacts may herald a partnership with entities from other galaxies or other dimensions.
Experiences being reported by those who have close encounters with death, those with advanced
meditative practices, and ideas from channeled New Age literature all point to a major shift in
human consciousness: a quantum leap into the meeting of mind, matter, and spirit.
