Our environment

Annie: Hi Steven. How was your weekend？

Steven: Thanks. I was preparing for the oral test the whole time. It really made
me nervous. How about you guys?
Annie:: me too. But at the same time, I did some reading about the environment.
I was amazed by how much discussions and researches are about it.
Eric: Yes, in the short term, the exam is very important. But on the long run, we
need to look at the bigger picture and take necessary steps against pollution.
Frank: absolutely. Environmental pollution has become a great problem in our
life.
Annie: : I agree. our existence depend on it, yet we don’t seem to care.
Steven Oh, We are polluting it indiscriminately. People are not aware of it. They
throw their waste here and there.
Eric : Mills and factories are polluting the land by dumping their toxic chemicals.
Annie:  : And too many vehicles are polluting the air by smoke and fumes.
Frank: Yes, you are all right! If you look at the ocean, you will find super tankers
and human wastes are killing all kinds of ocean life.
Steven : Not just marine life. Farmers are using fertilizers and pesticides for
more production. But these chemicals kill insects, animals, and eventually, us.
Annie:: If only we could stop using these chemicals in farming.
Eric:  But we cannot live without cooking food.
Frank: Eric, You are right. But, we should be conscious of it. In most cases, we
are not aware of the importance of environment.
Steven : So, what should we do?
Annie: We can start using organic farming and reduce the use of pesticides..
Frank: We can join volunteer groups and help clean up the waste on the beach
and in the oceans.
Eric And maybe we can start simple, by protecting the environment around us.
We can keep our school clean and reuse materials.
Steven：Great idea! It’s time to say bye, let’s get started right after the test.
Annie:: Why not, see you guys later.
Frank: Bye.
