CHAPTER I

Background of the Study

The Walter Company is the one of the major baker company who is
specialized in making breads and pastries over these past years. All the equipments
and raw materials of some bread out in the industries are mostly coming on their
corporation.

Labor-intensive checking and transactions are implemented therefore, taking

long period of time. It takes a long period of time to sort out the goods, date of
expiration, amount of delivery, and raw materials in making bread.

The system deals with the computerization of supplies and delivery’

inventory system. This system will be made actually for the workers to reduce their
work with a concrete and consistent handling of data. Unlike before, they have to
write in the index card their files of deliveries like inventory manually, here they just
have to encode the data then the files will be more controlled and efficient.

This will eventually change the manual operation of the recording, updating,
viewing and writing of all the information, reports and status of the raw materials
used and other matters took place as far as the Walter Company is concern.
Computerization should manifest to develop speed and precision.

Chiefly, the proponents aim to eliminate possible human errors that might
occur during manual handling, like erroneous tallying and recording of items and
other products during the actual inventories. Save time on writing paper work for
borrowed and returned raw materials because the suggestion will reduce
substantial work in the long run.
Statement of the Problem

Walter Company is the one who are in charge in delivering and producing
products like bread and pastries in the industries. For the inventory of equipments
and raw materials they happen to be suffering from the difficulty brings about by
their physical inventory.
Their manual inventory focuses on the inaccuracy of calculating and
recording of raw items and other properties during the actual inventory due to
human default and the process being time and effort consuming.

Objectives of the Study

General Objective

The foremost purpose of this project is to make an inventory system that will
help the Walter Company to monitor the inventory of equipments and abolish
preceding troubles encountered with the current manual method, and improve its
overall performance.

Specific Objectives
• To get rid of the time consumed of doing the actual inventories

• Make every data and recordings more accurate

• To provide information about the status of the material needed

• To eradicate potential errors for the date of deliveries and how to deal
with dangerous use of the materials caused by expiration, that needed
in making goods
• Handle, manage and keep the records appropriately.
Significance of the Study

The great significance of our design project is that it will help the Walter
Company to monitor the inventory of equipments without so much effort thus,
producing great convenience. The ability to organize, efficient manage and make
data available to workers when needed within a reasonable time, is a major
success. And during regular days, its major contribution is toward increases in both
free times enjoyed by the workers.

The proposed project will be very much beneficial to future researchers,

giving them the ideas and introducing them to a system that can create minimized
and organized data entry.

The transactions made: the equipment requested and materials monitored.

The use of the database system will be a great help to the Walter Company
personnel in tracking and reviewing transactions. Since the database contains all in
the Company will be easier.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

Scope and Limitation

• The core operation of this project is recording every delivery of materials,

tracking every items used in different baking process and returning
transactions in every faulty or expired goods to the supplier.
• The study focuses on viewing, updating, recording and printing of reports.
However, these options can only be accessed by the authorized users.
• The conceptualization of the system is based on the Walter Company existing
measures and policies.
• Raw materials should be recorded which will be automatically drafted on the
database, a printed copy of it should be produced if desired.
DEFINITION OF TERMS

Computerization to enter, process, or store (information) in

a computer or system of computers.

Database is a structured collection of records or data

that is stored in a computer so that a
computer program can consult it to answer
queries. It also refers to the collection of
related records, and the software should be
referred to as the database management
system or DBMS.

Database Management System is a complex set of software programs that

controls the organization, storage,
management, and retrieval of data in a
database. Typical examples of DBMSs
include Oracle, DB2, Microsoft Access,
Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL,
FileMaker and Sybase Adaptive Server
Enterprise. DBMSs are typically used by
Database administrators in the creation of
Database systems.

Inventory is a list of goods and materials, or those

goods and materials themselves, held
available in stock by a business. These are
held in order to manage and hide from the
customer the fact that manufacture/supply
delay is longer than delivery delay, and also
to ease the effect of imperfections in the
manufacturing process that lower production
efficiencies if production capacity stands idle
for lack of materials.
Software The instructions executed by a computer,
as opposed to the physical device on which
they run.

System An organized and coordinated method; a

procedure
