“The Philippine Clean Air Act”

The Philippine Clean Air Act aims to protect and advance the right of people to a
balanced and healthful ecology in accord with the rhythm and harmony of nature.
It is also aims to attain and maintain a balance between development and
environmental protection. Lastly, its focus is to maintain a quality of air that
protects human health and welfare.

This law would be of great help in our country especially in urban areas where the
presence of vehicles and factories are rampant. The presence of these pollutants
contributes largely to the pollution we experience in our country since the
provinces in our country is not yet industrialize. Hence, emission of pollutants in
these places are negligible, although in the long run the pollutants present in the
urban areas would affect them if this law would not be enforce strictly. An
example of non-enforcement of laws which could dramatically affect the
environment is tampering on the results of emission testing in a vehicle because
we often see public utility vehicles which discharge so much smoke that we
wonder how did they pass the emission test. Therefore, the problem is not the
law itself but the people and authorities enforcing it.
