HARROGATE
2011
Dear Colleague,
We are pleased to announce that the delightful spa town of Harrogate will be hosting our Conference for a second year.
The full Conference and Exhibition will take place within the refurbished Majestic Hotel, a wonderfully elegant Victorian
landmark hotel which offers excellent facilities and is ideally situated for anyone wishing to extend their stay (special
rates are available for the Sunday before Conference, see accommodation section.)
As an exciting new development this year, we are running a workshop session (at no extra cost) prior to the main
conference. The ‘Lower Bowel Dysfunction’ workshop is aimed at those who have an interest in bowel management
and want to improve patient care through updating their knowledge. We envisage that this workshop will be a popular
addition to the programme so please ensure that you tick the box on your registration to indicate your intention to
attend as places are limited to 60.
Following this there will be lunch available within the exhibition with the opening of Conference at 2.00pm.
We have a packed programme this year and the main Conference will begin with a timely and pertinent talk from Dame
Yvonne Moores, Chair of Poole Hospital Foundation Trust, on how to deliver quality care when the NHS is cutting costs.
Other highlights include; a lecture on wound healing and dermatitis in continence care by Zena Moore, President European
Wound Management Association and Lecturer in Wound Healing & Tissue Repair and Research Methodologies, Royal
College of Surgeons in Ireland and Dr Mary Baker, President of the European Brain Council, President of the European
Federation of Neurological Associations, Consultant to World Health Organisation and Chair of Working Group on Parkinson’s
disease, will be discussing the challenges of treating continence symptoms in those with neurological conditions.
As a delegate, there is also an opportunity for you to be involved in the programme by submitting a free paper and I
would personally like to encourage you to take up this opportunity and share your knowledge and findings with your
colleagues. There are prizes for the best paper, best presentation and best poster and in addition, we are offering the
lucrative Dorothy Mandalstam Award. Information on all of our awards is available on our website (www.aca.uk.com).
The ACA Executive Committee is happy to offer advice to anyone who is thinking of entering for any of the awards as we
appreciate how daunting the process can appear, so please just get in touch.
I have no doubt that once again a major focus for many delegates will be the exhibition and we are grateful to the
exhibiting companies for supporting our Association and providing an excellent exhibition for us all to view the latest
products and developments within the industry. The prestigious Look Good Feel Good Award will once more be awarded.
I look forward to meeting you in May 2011.
Doreen McClurg
ACA Chair
Please refer to the delegate registration section for ticket information. The dress code for the evening will be casual.
