Basic Rules

I n football, there are 11 players.

This consists of one goalkeeper,
four defenders, four midfielders,
and two forwards. A goal, which is
worth one point, is scored when the
ball is kicked into the net. In order for
a goal to count, the ball must pass
completely over the goal line.
Therefore, if the ball hits the top of the
net and falls on the goal line, it is not
considered a goal, and is still in play.
Three main rules of play:  players.
 No Hands. Only the goalkeeper
is allowed to use his or her
hands in football. Other players
are not allowed to use their
hands unless they are doing a
throw -in.
 Throw-ins. When the ball
crosses the sideline, the team
that did not last touch it throws
it back in. The player
performing the throw-in must
keep his or her feet on the
ground at all times, and throw
the ball with both arms over his
or her head.
 Corner Kicks and Goal
Kicks. When the ball crosses
the end line, a corner or goal
kick is awarded. A goal kick is
awarded if the offensive team
kicks the ball out. A goal kick is
performed from inside the
goalie box. If the defensive
team kicks the ball out, the
other team receives a corner
kick. A corner kick is performed
