Sir/Madam,

Subject: Revised scheme for grant of scholarship to the children of

officers/staff of the Department pursuing various professional
courses at under graduate level for the academic session 2007-08
and 2008-09- regarding.

The Governing Body constituted to administer the Customs and Central

Excise Welfare Fund has reviewed the existing Scholarship Scheme 2006-07 for
grant of scholarship to the children of departmental officials, pursuing professional

courses at under-graduate level in view of the implementation of the 6 Central Pay
Commission, A copy of the revised Scholarship Scheme 2007-08 and 2008--09 for
the academic years 2007-08 and 2008-09 approved by the Governing Body is
enclosed.

2. The said Scholarship Schemes for 2007-08 and 2008-09 may be circulated
to the lowest level of the offices under your jurisdiction and to the officials on
deputation to other organizations from your Commissionerate/Directorate.

3. The jurisdictional Commissioners/Additional Director Generals are requested

to forward the applications in respect of eligible children of the departmental officials
in the prescribed proforma enclosed herewith, separately for Scholarship Schemes
2007-08 and 2008-09 respectively, duly recommended by the Advisory Committee of
the respective Commissionerates/ Directorates along with attested photocopies of

relevant documents so as to reach this Directorate General latest by 31 January
2011.

4. In the case of children of deceased officers, the jurisdictional

Commissioner/Additional Director General under whose office the deceased officer’s
family is drawing the pension or in whose jurisdiction the family is residing, may
forward their applications, if any, along with the recommendations of the Advisory
Committee.

5. The following procedure may be followed while forwarding the applications:

(i) Commissionerates / Directorates should send applications/nominations by
Regd. / speed post only. No claim shall be entertained in respect of
applications sent by ordinary post, if not received in this office.

(ii) The list of applications received shall also be put on the departmental web

site by 31 of March, 2011.

(iii) In case Commissionerates/ Directorates observe omission of the

applications/ snominations forwarded by them in the list put up on web site,
they should take up the matter with the Directorate General about inclusion

of their applications/nominations by 15 of April 2011. No further request for
th
inclusion of nominations will be entertained after 15 of April, 2011.

6. The Commissionerates / Directorates who have forwarded applications /

nominations for grant of scholarship for the academic years 2007-08 and 2008-09
prior to issue of the revised Scholarship Schemes for 2007-08 and 2008-09 should
submit fresh applications as per revised Scholarship Schemes for 2007-08 and
2008-09 respectively. Applications/nominations forwarded earlier will not be
considered.

7. The original applications/nominations received after the closing date i.e.

31.01.2011 will not be entertained. In case of original applications/ nominations
which are forwarded before 31.01.2011 but are not included in the list put up on the
website (as specified in para 5 (ii) above), the same may be taken up with this
Directorate General for inclusion before 15.04.2011.

Welfare Fund of Central Board of Excise & Customs - Request for Issue of
Duplicate copy of the Payment Receipts of Fees during Ist Semester
to IVth Semester – Reg.

I am presently doing IVth year B.E. (ECE) (SS) in M.I.T. Campus, Chrompet, Chennai.
My father is working as Superintendent of Customs & Central Excise at Pondicherry. Recently,
Central Board of Excise & Customs has announced a scheme for grant of scholarship to the
children of officers of Customs & Central Excise Department for 2007-2008 & 2008-2009 under
the Customs & Central Excise Welfare Fund of Central Board of Excise & Customs for which
the receipts for the payment of fees to the college for the respective period along with the grade
sheet are required. (copy enclosed for ready reference).

The receipt for the payment of fees for Ist Semester to IVth Semester have been
misplaced and are not readily available for submitting to the Department. Hence I request that
the duplicate copy of the payment receipts duly certified for the period 2007-08 & 2008-09 may
kindly be issued for availing the above scholarship Scheme.

Hereby, I submit that I do not avail any scholarship / loan from any forum.
